Faith Presbyterian Church Irmo, SC Student and Family Ministry Director Overview The Student and Family Ministry Director is a godly shepherd who oversees, develops, promotes, and implements the discipleship of students from birth through 12th grade. Vision It is the desire that the ministries for students from birth through 12th grade will be a seamless program to provide the opportunity for spiritual growth through the life of a child to a point that they come to know Jesus Christ and are discipling others. Responsibilities 1) Shepherding students and their families 2) Creating vision that aligns with the church’s desire to make disciples 3) Developing a. Student & family discipleship b. Volunteers that can embrace the vision and have ministry delegated to them c. Discipleship, teaching and recreational opportunities 4) Managing “Student Ministries” programs from inception through evaluation 5) Communicating with students, parents, the body, committees, the Diaconate and the Session Characteristics and Attributes 1) Relationally oriented with the ability to understand, encourage and empathize 2) Passionate about Christ and enthusiastic about discipling students, families and volunteers while also excited about being discipled themselves 3) An adventurous person who enjoys versatility and has the ability to cut loose and have a good time while knowing how and when to get serious 4) A forward creative thinker who is diligent about God’s vision for this local church 5) Secure in how God has created and developed them and where God is calling them Education and Experience The Student and Family Ministry Director is to have obtained at least a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of three years vocational experience working with students and families in a church setting. Experience should include recruitment and training of a volunteer staff as well as developing and implementing programs. The Director must embrace the Westminster Confession of Faith for the PCA. Oversight The Student and Family Ministry Director reports to the Senior Pastor and is an employee of the Session. The Senior Pastor and Session have the responsibility to shepherd this staff member by providing ministry feedback and support and assisting them to: 1) Grow as a disciple as they “Connect to God, the Body and Others”
