Access to the Best Jobs SNAP has been working with families since 2001 and we are w ell-known as the special needs agency – so we work with lots of families who are offering g reat jobs. We post all our jobs on-line, so you can see the latest jobs straight away. We plac e people in a variety of roles, not just special needs nannies: enablers, buddies, educational supports, team leaders and therapists, throughout the UK and Internationally. SNAP Childcare works with babies and children, and SNAP16+ works with young people and adults with additional needs.

Working with dedicated, experienced consultants All the consultants a t SNAP are very experienced and will help guide you and give you infor mation and advice, whether that’s information about a specific disabilit y or general employment queries.

We understand the significant part you are going to pla y. SNAP was started by a special needs nanny, Sally Britton and Andr ew Knight who has a daughter Camilla who has cerebral palsy, so we have an understandin g from both sides!

Full Job Details We visit all the families seeking permanent help where ever they are in the UK. This means that we are able to give you full information about the job; not just about the h ours and the duties, but about who they are as an individual / family. We always try to matc h on personal attributes as well as experience, which we feel is crutial to a great placement.

CV, Interview Advice We are happy to give you advise on how to best set out your CV for SNAP jobs and have templates you can use. When we identify a job we feel you would be suitabl e for, we will send your details to that client. We can advise you how to present your experi ence in the very best way to give you the best chance of being offered an interview. After Placement Support We understand that working with children or adults with additional needs can be very demanding; it's not the easiest job. We will call you and your employer on th e first day of work and then a couple of weeks later to check that all is going well. You are of co urse welcome to call or email us if you have any questions, or just to tell us how things are goin g.

(Please note, SNAP is an introductory agency, not a service provider, so we will not be your employer).

Employment Contracts and We will provide your new employer with a draft contract of empl oyment if they need one. This is an agreement between the employer and you. The contract may have additional items related to working in a private family home. Working in a personal e nvironment can mean that there are items that are often not covered in a regular employment contract, especially for candidates who live in.

DBS Checks We will process and pay for your DBS check once we have placed you in a position and will !DBS: Please remember - even pay for the first year of your DBS Update Service – but though we send it to be you will need to apply for the update service, we can’t processed and pay for it, we no do it on your behalf. You can apply as soon as you longer get a copy of your DBS; have your DBS Application number – if you work with As soon as you receive, it please children or adults with additional needs – you should send us a copy. be on the Update Service! Newsletter / Information We are happy to answer any questions you may have about worki ng in a family home, any employment or other related questions. We produce online news bulletins for candidates, families and other associated professionals. You are welcome to contri bute relevant articles if you wish. We have a resource guide on-line and send out regular Tweet s to alert followers of new jobs, TV programmes, functions and articles of interest. (Please follow us @SNAPChildcare – thanks!)

What We Ask of You For us to be able to help you get a great job, we need to work together. We will always give you all the information, and we expect the same in return. We work with families who may be under a great amount of pressure and we only want to work with people who can help their situation, not complicate it!

We ask you:

To be clear about your availability and ability to commit to a job

To be honest and open with us, to provide accurate information and feedback

To keep good lines of communication with us

To understand how we work as an agency with you and clients and to ensure there is loyalty between all parties

To let us know if your temporary job is extended or part-time hours are increased

To provide us with all the documentation we need in a timely fashion

To represent SNAP in a professional manner at all times, both prior to obtaining a job and when working for a SNAP client

Data Protection

We do ask for a great deal of information from you, which is essential as we work with potentially vulnerable children and adults. SNAP Childcare is a data controller under the Data Protection Act. We will use the information you provide only in connection with the services provided by SNAP Childcare (or SNAP16+ a division of SNAP Childcare). How we treat the data you provide Our registration process enables you to create an account that you are then able to update at any time. This means you don't need to re-do a form each time you apply for a job, you can simply update your information. This saves you time and we have your most up to date information. This is securely stored and only accessible to you and designated staff at SNAP. You can request that your account is deleted at any time.

Identification Documents We will need to see your original documents. Ideally we like to meet everyone in person, but appreciate if you live far away this is not always possible, in which case we arrange a Skype interview and ask you post your documents. If you post documents, we will scan and securely save your documents digitally. The photocopies we make to be able to scan your documents are shredded in a cross-cutting shredder. We will always endeavour to return your documents the same day - please provide the appropriate return Special Delivery envelope and stamps so we can do so safely. If you come in to our office, we will apply the same process as above. If we place you in a position, we are required to keep this information and will archive these files to be securely stored. If we do not place you in a position, we will safely destroy these files in 12 months. (We will require updated information if you apply again in the future).

Personal Information If you have provided personal or sensitive information, this will only be used to determine your suitability for a position / to register for our jobs and never passed to a 3rd party without your permission.

Sending your Details to Potential Employers Once we have identified a position we feel you could be suitable for (and you are interested in of course!), we will send your details to the client. This will include your CV, references we have obtained for you, plus a top sheet which has information pulled through from your registration form (if you drive, your hobbies, experience details etc.), plus your photo and notes from our interview with you. A case manager also supports some of our clients and so your details are likely to be sent to them too. They are also professional people who are bound by a professional code of conduct and will be equally appropriate about their use of your data. If we place you in a position, clients and / or case managers may need to see copies of specific documents, such as your driving license to be able to put you on their car insurance or passport to verify your right to work in the UK.

Attracting New Clients Of course we always want to let potential clients know about the great candidates that we work with and encourage new jobs. We may post your details anonymously both on our website and send to selected case managers or clients if we feel your skills may be of interest to them. Please let us know if you do not wish to have your details on our website or sent to prospective clients.

Access to Information In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 you have the right to access any information that we hold relating to you. Please note that we reserve the right to charge a fee of £10.00 to cover costs incurred by us in providing you with the information.
