Distributed ION Enterprise 6 installation - Database Server + Application Server Windows 2008 R2 / SQL 2005 64bit Standard, or Windows 2008 64bit SP2/ SQL 2005 64bit Standard

Introduction

This document describes the installation procedure of a new ION Enterprise 6 SP1 system with the following parameters:  Server topology - Distributed system with a database server housing the ION database and an application server housing the ION Enterprise application and Reporting Services.  Operation System (assumed already installed) - Windows 2008 R2 (64bit), or - Windows 2008 64bit SP2  SQL Server Version - SQL Server 2005 64bit Standard

Before you start

 Have SQL 2005 Server 64bit Installation CD  Have SQL 2005 Server Service Pack 3 (64bit)  Have ION Enterprise 6.0.1 CD (build 1300 has Service Pack 1 included)  Have a copy of the RS2008WRConfigurationWizard (RESL 203767)

1. Database Server Configuration

1.1. Install SQL 2005 Standard 64bit Insert the SQL 2005 installation CD…

Under the Install heading, click “Server components, tools, Books Online, and samples”

Click Run program…

Accept the terms > Next

Installing Prerequisites > Install

Next > Next > It’s OK to get the IIS and ASP.Net warnings as shown below. All other actions should succeed.

Registration Information: fill in as required > Next

Components to Install:

- SQL Server Database Services - Workstation components, Books Online and development tools Next

Note: Reporting Services should not be installed on the database server.

Instance Name: create a named instance called “ION”

Service Account: Use the built-in System Account “Local System”, check SQL Server Agent to start

Authentication Mode: use Mixed Mode

Enter sa password (ION!Everywhere)

Collation Settings: leave as default

Report Server Installation Options: Install the default configuration

Install

1.2. Apply SQL 2005 service pack 3 Run the service pack installer with default settings

click Run program

Reboot!

1.3. Install ION Enterprise 6 Run Setup > Install Server

click OK

Database Server > Next Accept the terms > Next Enter Customer Information > Next Select SQL Server Instance: select the local ION instance > Next

click Yes

Select File Destinations: configure if necessary > Next

Next > Install

Finish

1.4. Run ION Enterprise 6.0 Service Pack 1 Double click ServicePack1.exe from the install media (D:\ServicePack\ServicePack1.exe) Next > Finish

1.5. Create the IONUser account - Open Computer Management > Local Users and Groups. - In the Users folder create the IONUser with password: IONisgreat! - Check the “Password never expires” checkbox. - Open the Groups folder and add the IONUser to the administrator group.

2. Application Server Configuration

2.1. Install Internet Information Services (IIS) -Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager -Under Roles Summary click Add Roles and check Web Server (IIS) -Expand each sub-folder and ensure the following IIS options are checked:

 Common HTTP Features: o Static Content o Default Document o Directory Browsing o HTTP Errors  Application Development Features: o ASP.NET o .NET Extensibility o ASP o ISAPI Extensions o ISAPI Filters  Health and Diagnostics: o HTTP Logging o Request Monitor  Security: o Request Filtering  Performance Features: o Static Content Compression  Management Tools: o IIS Management Console  IIS 6 Management Compatibility: o IIS 6 Metabase and IIS configuration compatibility o IIS 6 WMI Compatibility o IIS 6 Scripting Tools

2.2. Register 64 bit ASP.Net from the command prompt Ensure you are logged in as THE administrator and not just a user with administrator privileges! Alternatively you can run an elevated command prompt. But either way you will need the administrator password. To run an elevated command prompt, right click a command prompt shortcut and Run As Administrator. Run the commands:

%SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i

-Ensure IIS is working: In Internet Explorer type: http://localhost/

If IIS did not install successfully and you do not see this screen, then stop and resolve before continuing with the install!

2.3. Install SQL 2005 Standard 64bit Insert the SQL 2005 installation CD…

Under the Install heading, click “Server components, tools, Books Online, and samples”

Click Run program…

Accept the terms > Next

Left pane, select Application Pools Middle pane, select Classic .Net AppPool Right pane, click Advanced Settings… Make the following modifications if needed: Enable 32-Bit Applications = True Managed Pipeline Mode = Classic Identity = NetworkService

Middle pane, select ReportServer$ION Right pane, click Advanced Settings Make the following modifications if needed: Enable 32-Bit Applications = False Managed Pipeline Mode = Classic Identity = NetworkService

2.6. Edit Handler Mappings Still in IIS Manager, in the left pane, select Default Web Site In the middle pane, double click Handler Mapping In the right pane, click Edit Feature permissions…

2.7. Install ION Enterprise 6.0 Insert the ION Enterprise CD…

Click Run Setup > Install Server > Primary Server > SQL Instance

click Install

click Next to continue

-Accept the licensing terms > Next -Enter Customer Info and Product Key > Next -Select the \ION server instance > Next (choose the local instance of ION)

ignore the question and click Yes

-Select File Destinations: > Next -ION Web Configuration: use default settings > Next >Install > Finish

2.8. Run ION Enterprise 6 Service Pack 1 -Double click ServicePack1.exe > Next > Finish

2.9. Change the Startup type of the ION Connection Manager Use the Services Control Panel applet to change the Startup type of the ION Connection Manager service from Automatic to Manual.

At this point the application server should function normally on its own except for Reporting Services.

2.10. Manual Configuration steps - Shut down all ION Enterprise services starting with the ION Network Router Service - Delete the Log Inserter and Query Server configuration files (just the .cfg files, not the directories). They will both be in config\cfg\Logsrv directory in their own subdirectories. - Start Database Manager from the system\bin folder - Detach the ION databases - Change ION Enterprise Database Registry settings to point to the SQL instance on the database server by navigating to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Schneider Electric\ION Enterprise\6.0\Databases Change the Database key values to reference dataserver as shown below:

2.11. Run the RS2008WRConfigurationWizard Copy the RS2008WRConfigurationWizard.exe to the system\bin folder.

Double click to run…

Report Server should be the local machine name > Next

Click Force

Choose the second option to install RS on a different Machine > Next

Choose the database server ION instance > Next

Click OK to test authentication > Next > Next

-Now manually copy PMLMSDEManager.dll (system\bin) to the same location on the database server.

2.12. Starting ION Enterprise - Before starting any ION services, open the ION Management Console - Click the Servers tab and add the application server name if it is missing. - Click Tools > License Manager and update the license key (otherwise you will get a “ManagementConsoleExeption” error when you try to add a meter) - Start ION services starting with the ION Network Router Service.
