TERMS & CONDITIONS OF TRADE FOR HOUSEHOLD REMOVALS CONDUCTED BY SHETLAND TRANSPORT

In the respect of the carriage of Property in the course of any household removal we will by payment (or at our option by repair, reinstatement or replacement) indemnify you for damage to goods whilst being loaded upon, carried by or unloaded from any vehicle owned or operated by us or our sub-contractors subject to the following exclusions: -

1. We will not pay claims for: - a) Damage to food, drink, furs jewellery, watches, precious metals and precious stones. b) Wear, tear, gradual deterioration or mildew. c) Damage by moth, vermin or any process cleaning, repairing or restoration. d) Damage to self-assembly furniture unless dismantled prior to the day of removal. e) Mechanical, electrical or electric breakdown, failure or derangement unless caused by external means. f) Breakage of owner-packed property unless caused by fire, theft, attempted theft or as a direct result of the collision or overturning of conveying vehicle. g) Damage occurring whilst the goods are stored, warehoused or temporarily stored in the course of transit. h) Dishonest, fraudulent, criminal or malicious act by you or any person acting on your behalf. i) Fines, duties, taxes, levies, expenses incidental to damage or any other pecuniary penalties incurred by you or any person acting on your behalf. j) Document, money, securities for money, negotiable instruments, bullion, unused postage stamps, credit cards, debit cards, charge cards and similar property. k) Damage or injury to or death, disease or illness of any person pr living creature. l) Deterioration of perishable property or damage to property caused by or arising from any change in temperature. m) Damage caused by or arising from risks of war. n) Damage caused by or arising from confiscation, requisition or damage by order of any government or other officials or authorities.

2. If any article forming part of a pair or set is damaged we will not pay more than the proportionate value that the article bears to the total value of the pair or set.

3. It is a condition precedent to our liability that we have obtained a valued inventory in respect of the property prior to the commencement of transit and that such inventory is signed by you, the owner of the property.

4. The first £250 of loss or damage to property.
