The Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Club will provide $500 to a student residing in the Mulberry-Fairplains attendance area in order that the recipient may attend, on a full time basis only, a curriculum program offered by Wilkes Community College. The recipient will be chosen from applications received by the Mulberry- Fairplains Ruritan Club Scholarship Committee and will be based on the applicant’s need and on the potential of academic success as determined from past performance records provided by the applicant to the Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Club Scholarship Committee.

Applications for consideration for this grant must be submitted to the Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Club Scholarship Committee by April 30 of the first year of the requested grant award. Only complete applications will be considered. Grant qualifications and requirements are listed on the application form. Notification of award will be made by May 15. Completed applications must be provided to any one of the Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Scholarship Committee by the stated deadlines. Application kits may be obtained at the North Wilkes High School Guidance Center. An official application form must be used in the application process. Copied forms will not be considered. The Wilkes Community College Financial Aid Office will be notified of the recipient of the award and Wilkes Community College will bill the Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Club for the tuition grant after the recipient has been enrolled as a full time student in a degree program at Wilkes Community College.

Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Scholarship Qualifications. (1) Student must reside in the Mulberry-Fairplains attendance area. (2) Student must show need and potential for success in a college program. (3) An official application form submitted by the application deadline. (4) A transcript of high school grades submitted by the application deadline. (5) Two letters of reference must be submitted by the application deadline. (6) Tuition Grants apply to Wilkes Community College only. ONLY COMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED.

Ruritan is a national organization dedicated to improving communities and building a better America through Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service.

Ruritan is a civic service organization made up of local clubs in small towns and rural communities. Ruritan's purpose is to create a better understanding among people and through volunteer community service, make America's communities better places in which to live and work. The slogan of Ruritan is "Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service." Club membership represents a cross-section of the community in which the club serves, and is not restrictive with regard to occupation, social position, or any other specific criteria.

Mulberry-Fairplains Ruritan Club meets the first Monday each month at 7:00 pm in it’s clubhouse on Ruritan Clubhouse Road off highway 18 north. JOIN US!!!
