1. Request from Gayla Lindt – include course names on agenda in addition to course numbers. 2. E-vote? Process went well. We will continue that process moving forward. 3. Curriculum agenda items: a. Architecture Minor Program Revision, Changes to catalog description and course offering a.i. BDA secondary courses will be listed. a.ii. Proposal passes. b. ARCH 5677, New Course b.i. Elective option. Undergrad could also take it with permission. b.ii. Gail will need to document Strategic Objectives and Consultation in ECAS. Holley will contact Gail Dubrow and Greg Donofrio, who submitted this proposal on Gail’s behalf, to fill in this information. b.iii. Proposal passes, pending additions to ECAS record. c. Reactivates course because faculty deemed necessary that the portfolio emphasis needs to be its own course. f.ii. This course may require a new number due to limitations with APAS. A course number change is a housekeeping item, though, and may be addressed without a full curriculum committee meeting. f.iii. Students who are currently enrolled will remain under old curriculum. Students who enroll fall 2014 or later will be held to this new course. f.iv. Proposal passes. g. Graphic Design Program Revision g.i. Adds/reactivates GDES 4355 g.ii. This proposal is fixing something that didn’t work when the curriculum was adjusted 3 years ago. g.iii. Proposal passes. h. HUMF 5193, New course h.i. Directed Study h.ii. Course is listed as GDES 5193 in ECAS. Is this listing a mistake? h.iii. Proposal passes, pending adjustment to ECAS to correct GDES listing. i. HUMF 5874, New course i.i. Service design i.ii. Is this course inappropriately named? This course seems targeted toward healthcare while this course title sounds much broader. There seems to be confusion between the title, the description, and the course content. Should this be named something else, especially if the projects are healthcare-based? Is this a general service design course or a course that is more closely focused on healthcare? If it is focused on healthcare, that fact should be reflected in the title and the description. If the intention is to promote/create a general service design course, then perhaps the content needs to be adjusted. i.iii. Also, why is Retail, LA, and Arch not targeted with this course as well? i.iv. Proposal tabled, pending either revised content or a revised title from Kathleen Harder to alleviate confusion. The committee will conduct an e-vote after follow-up from Kathleen to expedite approval. j. Landscape Arch New Program j.i. Restoration, conservation, and ecological design j.ii. This has 3000 level courses. Is this program an undergrad minor? j.iii. Proposal tabled pending confirmation of whether this is an undergrad or grad level minor. If it is a grad level minor, more classes need to be offered that a grad student would take as an elective. The committee will conduct an e-vote after follow-up from John Koepke to expedite approval. k. LA 3413/5413, Housekeeping k.i. Moving from spring to fall and from face-to-face to online k.ii. No action needed l. LA 5376, Housekeeping l.i. Corrects clerical error l.ii. No action needed m. LA 5377, Housekeeping m.i. Corrects clerical error m.ii. No action needed n. Architecture program revision n.i. Replace Arch 3641 with Arch 4671, Historic Preservation in BDA secondary core. n.ii. Greg Donofrio inherited 3641 and he has reframed it so that it would be more appropriate at a 4xxx level course. There are no plans to offer 3641, but it is not being eliminated necessarily. n.iii. Typo in course proposal. 4672 is listed rather than 4671. Typo needs adjustment to show 4671. n.iv. Proposal passes pending typo correction to show 4671. o. ADES 2211 o.i. Joe will relay message to Barb Martinson for full faculty consideration. 6. Should we consider a 3rd meeting for spring semester?
