Instructions on how to fill out QNAP RMA/DOA Request Form:

1. Please utilize the Procedures on Appendix to verify the problem for specified Models. After

finishing verification, please apply a RMA/DOA No. from QNAP to fill-in the form.

2. All model and PN can be put in one RMA/DOA sheet in one request.

3. Please fill out the form in English and particularly make sure the Product serial number is

correct.

 Please write down the problem code and failure description.  Please backup all your data before shipping the unit, QNAP US is not liable to data loss or disk damage incurred.

Put the RMA/DOA Application Form and RMA/DOA Carton Label as following:

(Every RMA/DOA No. is valid for two weeks from the date of issuing):

1. Please put the RMA/DOA form that contains RMA/DOA number inside the box, and also

paste the RMA /DOA Carton Label on the external carton box.

2. When shipping across border, list the value of the product on the invoice as zero (or a very

low value, say $5). Otherwise, additional charges will be levied by customs (which will be

borne by the sender). We suggest that you write “Goods with no commercial value, returned

for repair” on the shipment invoice.

Extremely Important: 1. RMA/DOA No. will not be issued if this request form is incomplete. 2. If returning for credit and the reason for return indicates that the unit was not opened or used and not because it is defective, QNAP reserves the right to refuse full credit return and charges a re-stocking fee if the unit is found to have been used. Re-stocking fee is 10% of purchase price if within 30 days of purchase; 20% of purchase price if outside of 30 days of purchase. 3. Don’t return the complete unit. If there is a problem with the unit, just send the unit without hard drive trays and accessories. If there is a problem with the adapter just send the adapter itself. QNAP Inc. 1. Every RMA/DOA No. is valid for two weeks since issued. 2. Please retain a copy of this form for yourself. Appendix: QNAP Turbo Station NAS Problem Code and Checking Guide 1 Applied model: TS-100, TS-101, TS-201, TS-109 series, TS-209 series, TS-409 series.

Please follow below procedures to test the problem code before sending back the device back to QNAP for RMA. 1 Remove all the HDD(s) from the NAS, Press the Power button. 1.1 If no lit on the front LED panel, connect the power adapter to another QNAP TS products to make sure this is power adapter on device problem. Select the problem code as H1 or H2 2 The device will sound a short beep in a few seconds 2.1 If no short beep, select the problem code as H3 3 After 1~2 minutes, it will sound one or three long beep(s) 3.1 If no long beep, select the problem code as H4. 4 Check whether the fan is rotating. 4.1 Please note: 0 TS-100, TS-101, TS-109/Pro does not contain fan 1 TS-201 fan will not rotate if the mainboard temperature is lower than 48 degree C. It is normal that it does not rotate when the NAS start up. 2 TS-209/409 series fan will rotate immediately you power it on. 4.2 If the fan doesn’t rotate, select the problem code as H5 5 Connect the NAS to Windows PC directly and run QNAP Finder, it should find the NAS with IP/firmware version/Server model/MAC. And a Quick Setup Wizard dialog will say “The server xxxxx is not configured yet, do you want to set it up now?” 5.1 Please check QNAP download site (http://www.qnap.com/download.asp) to make sure the QNAP Finder you are using is the latest one. 5.2 Please disable firewall/antivirus software on the PC. This kind of software may block the network access of QNAP Finder. 5.3 If the QNAP Finder can not find the NAS or can not correctly show the firmware version and server model, select the problem code as H6. 6 Click No on the Quick Setup Wizard. Insert the working HDD (hot-plug) to the NAS. Then click the Details button. 6.1 Check whether the NAS can recognize the HDD(s). If not recognize, plug another HDDs to the drive bay. If the HDD is still not recognized, select the problem code as H7. 7 Click Refresh button, the NAS will show up the “Quick Setup Wizard” again. Click Yes and follow the message on the screen to setup. 7.1 The IP of the NAS unit should be on the same subnet of you PC. For example, if the IP of NAS is 169.254.100.100, you need to configure your PC's IP to 169.254.100.101. 7.2 If the setup process fail, select the problem code as H8 and include the error message. 8 If the NAS can successfully be set up, the hardware of the NAS should be OK. 8.1 If your are sure there is other hardware problem not listed above, select the problem code as H9 and include the component which you think is fail (for example, copy button, USB or eSATA port, etc. ) or the detail of the symptom. 9 If the NAS pass all above test, the problem should be on the software.
