General Purpose: Reporting to the Manager of the Sterling Power Plant, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Power Plant to include co-generation of electricity, and production and distribution of steam and chilled water to the Campus. Provides planned maintenance and engineering support for plant and distribution systems.

Qualifications:  Proven ability to provide direction and supervision to plant operators to insure the safe and reliable delivery of utilities for University facilities and other properties. Provide high-level technical expertise in the operation of a co-generation plant and related technology.  Proven knowledge of engineering principles and their application for the operation and maintenance of steam, chilled water equipment, electrical generation, boilers, chiller, gas turbines, and distribution systems.  Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State emission regulations and advanced knowledge of power plant production and fuel consumption data  Well-developed managerial skills including experience with progressive discipline and performance feedback with proven ability to direct customer focused teams providing services.  Proven experience with developing and monitoring of power plant operational models to track overall plant performance in accordance with commodities budgets sustaining high levels of overall plant efficiency.  Preferred: Five years of experience running a cogeneration plant. Experience in managing a unionized workforce.
