Bowling Etiquette
1. Be ready to take your turn. If a bowler is on the approach to the right or left, wait until they have thrown. If you are up there at the same time, the bowler on the right goes first. 2. Stay in your approach area. 3. Control your temper. 4. Don’t use any other bowler ball. This slows down play. 5. Be sure that the pin setting machine has recycled and the sweep is up before you throw. 6. Don’t bring food or drink into the scoring area. Do not place on console. 7. Do not loft the ball.
Ball Delivery Point of Origin- Where you stand on the approach. This is different for each bowler and is determined by length of stride and direction in which ball rolls.
Point of Aim- Spot bowling (looking at an arrow on the lane), or pin bowling (looking at the pins you want to hit).
Scoring *A game consists of 10 frames. A maximum of two shots are made for each one frame with the exception of the tenth frame. If a mark is recorded, then extra shots are thrown. *The number of pins knocked down by the first shot is recorded on the left hand side of the frame and pins knocked down by the second delivery are recorded on the right side. *Frames where there are no marks (spares or strikes) are added immediately. *On a spare, add the 10 pins for the spare plus the pins knocked down on the next shot. *On a strike, add the 10 pins for the spare plus the pins knocked down on the next 2 shots. Note: the most pins you can ever add to a frame is 30. *If the bowler goes over the foul line on the first delivery, an “F” is recorded and the bowler receives 0 and the pins must be reset for the second shot. If a bower goes over the line on the second shot an “F” is recorded and they receive 0 pins and the frame is over.
