MACC COORDINATOR

GENERAL OVERVIEW The MACC Coordinator will administrate and oversee the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling program. The Coordinator will help recruit visiting professors, overseeing field education, develop future counseling courses, and assist the Director of Counseling (henceforth DOC) in other academic duties related to counseling program. The Coordinator will also work alongside the Admissions office by assisting in publicity and recruitment for the counseling program by traveling to counseling conferences,building relationships with prospective students, and promoting the MACC through special events.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Academics-40%

Counseling Course and Academics  Meet weekly or bi-weekly with the DOC to discuss issues related to MACC and Academics.  Assist the DOC in MACC course development and implementation.  Review prospective professor qualifications for the DOC; Initiate contact and develop relationship when needed.  Coordinate with the DOC on academic calendar for upcoming MACC courses.  Coordinate with visiting professors in course content and development and overall course needs.  Assist visiting professors with grading when needed as well as oversee student course work and exams.  Assist on-campus professors with administration, grading, and over-all class needs when necessary.  Assist in counseling directed studies when offered.  Advise MACC students on current and upcoming counseling courses, including academic and degree planning as well as vocational planning.  Coordinate with DOC on MACC course communication, course improvements, MACC student evaluations, and overall structure of MACC courses.  Work with the DOC on student issues related to MACC including credit for courses outside of RTS, visiting student status, class scheduling, visiting professors, and related accreditation issues.  Work with the DOC on developing MACC electives, including elective proposals, content development, and prospective professors.  Under the direction of the DOC, collaborate with Library Director on resources available for check out in library, including recommendations and purchasing directly; Collaborate with book store manager on counseling-related book suggestions for bookstore.

Page 1 of 4 Field Education  Oversee MACC field education including developing MACC field Ed requirements, implementing paperwork and enforcing deadlines for students  Regular communication with MACC students about field Ed requirements; create documents for field Ed hours and oversee completion; approve field Ed sites and mentors; Review and evaluate final counseling philosophy papers.  Mentor and supervise students throughout field Ed experience.  Lead group supervision for MACC students when needed.  Develop relationships with current field Ed mentors and sites as well as prospective mentors and sites.  Actively promote MACC field Ed to area churches, para-ministry organizations, counseling centers, and counseling-related ministries to facilitate relationship with RTS, nurture referral sources, and establish enrollment-beneficial partnerships.

Admissions-40%

Recruitment  Develop and lead a comprehensive, effective recruitment strategy for MACC students to meet enrollment goals.  Actively recruit prospective students by attending national counseling conferences.  Oversee all conference needs including coordination with conference coordinator for promotional needs, booth set-up, travel, and accommodations for admissions representatives.  Oversee creation, development, and distribution of promotional materials at conferences, including design of stand-up banners, counseling brochures, and overall aesthetic at booth.  Promote counseling conferences to MACC students and serve as point of contact before, during, and after conference.  Actively recruit prospective MACC students through local campus ministries and college campuses through regular contact with campus representatives, attendance at ministry meetings, conferences, and campus visits.

Admissions  Attend Admissions meetings as needed and offer support to MACC Admissions representative with regular meetings.  Meet regularly with Admissions director to discuss MACC and Admissions needs and recruiting opportunities.  Review MACC applications, interview prospective students, and admit qualified students in collaboration with Admissions office.  Regular follow-up with prospective MACC students, providing support throughout enrollment process and transition into seminary.

Page 2 of 4 Promotion-20%  Oversee all promotion of MACC, including academic promotion, admissions promotion, and special event promotion.

MACC Course Promotion  Oversee design collaboration for special counseling course promotion, developing postcard and email as well as graphics for website and social media platforms.  Coordinate with Director of Communications, Women’s Dean, Admissions office, and RTS Institutional representatives to create and implement contact lists for class promotion.  Coordinate with RTS web designer, Women’s Dean, and Communications Director to implement design on website and RTS communications.  Follow-up with current and prospective students on special class enrollment.  Collaborate with Admissions office on information concerning weeklong classes, including promotion plan and assistance with enrollment of special students.

Special Event Promotion  Create and carry out special event workshop series featuring visiting MACC professors or other counseling guests to teach on counseling-related subject.  Oversee all aspects of workshop development including promotion and recruitment, coordination with speaker, oversight of facilities and AV needs, catering, and student worker assistance.  Oversee design collaboration for special event workshop, developing postcard and email as well as graphics for website and social media platforms.  Coordinate with Director of Communications, Women’s Dean, Institutional representatives, and Vice President of Development to create and implement contact lists for workshop.  Coordinate with RTS web designer, Women’s Dean and Director of Communications to implement design on website and RTS communications.  Follow up with attendees and prospective guests on workshop details.  Utilize workshop recording on website and social media platforms.  Communicate with Vice President of Development on contact list development, attendees, and follow-up.

Alumni Promotion  Connect with alumni to promote MACC and foster development opportunities including special events, week-long courses, and Field Ed.

Website and Social Media Promotion  Responsible for development and update of MACC web page including updating counseling courses, professors, and program details.  Periodically update pictures and event news on MACC page.

Page 3 of 4  Collaborate with web designer and communications director in updating class promotion and special event promotion on main web page.  Work with Admissions director and web designer to utilize Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to promote MACC, classes, and special events.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS  A Master of Counseling degree and counseling experience is desired.  Display a vision and passion for an opportunity to impact the world through counseling seminary education.  Committed to Inerrancy of Scripture, Reformed theology, and model of counseling exemplified in organizations like Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF) and the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).  Strong communication skills, written and verbal, interpersonal skills, leadership, initiative, organization, and multi-tasking.  Desire and understanding that travel is necessary for maximum effectiveness.  Ability to dialogue with potential students in matters concerning faith, theology, Bible content, and counseling with emphasis in broad uses of counseling vocationally.  Ability to relate to potential students in a pastoral manner.

RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER STAFF

Reports to: The Counseling Program Director (primarily) and the Director of Admissions and Recruitment. In the absence of the Counseling Program Director, the Coordinator would report to the Academic Dean and Director of Admissions and Recruitment.

Consults with: The Academic Dean and Registrar.

HOURS AND BENEFITS This position is a full-time salaried position. Work hours for this role could vary due to travel and other responsibilities. All full-time employees are offered health insurance (if needed) and a retirement plan. Details of that plan are available upon request through our Payroll & Benefits Administrator.

Vacation, sick, and personal days: All staff are given 2 weeks of accrued vacation, 5 days of sick time, and 4 personal days. Employees are allowed to roll over up to 10 unused vacation and 10 unused sick days to the following year.
