Contract/Part-Time Team Read Instructor: Readers 2 Leaders (R2L)

Department: Programs Job Status: Part Time / Contract FLSA Status: non-Exempt Reports To: Executive Director and Program Director Grade/Level: Kindergarten-5th grade Amount of Travel Required: None Job Type: Regular Salary Range: $20-$25/hour Work Schedule: M-TH; 3:00-6:00p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY To plan, prepare and deliver reading instruction to students enrolled in the Team Read reading intervention programs. Primary instructional staff for the Readers 2 Leaders in-school, after-school, and summer programs.

Essential Functions Statement(s) • Plan, prepare, and deliver guided reading and phonics lessons to students. Administer a variety of reading assessments to identify and monitor students’ progress in reading level and • skill. Assessments include, but are not limited to, DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment), Istation ISIP, sight words, phonological awareness, and fluency. • Encourage and monitor students’ progress and use the information to adjust teaching strategies. Manage documentation and student data for assessment scores, attendance, demographic information, • outcome measures, and survey results. • Complete monthly performance data reports documenting students’ progress for school staff and parents. Manage/coordinate a small group of volunteers to read with children during Buddy Reading sessions. (only • applicable to In-School Instructors) Assist students with homework during the After-School Program. (only applicable to some sites, not • applicable for summer contract instructors or contract in-school instructors) Create and execute educational and engaging hands-on learning activities for After-School and Summer • Camp programs (may not apply to a contract instructor) • Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. • Provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students. • All other duties as assigned by Executive Director and Program Director.

SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred Fields of Study: Education/Literature, Child Development

Experience: 1 plus years of experience working with children in a teaching/educational setting Computer Proficient in all Microsoft applications Skills:

Certifications & No specific certifications or licenses are required for this position Licenses:

Knowledge/experience in Guided Reading/explicit phonics instruction Experience in teaching reading, especially at the lower elementary level Other Requirements: Excellent organization and interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment Experience with volunteer management is a plus
