Week of 9-5-2017 General Notes

 XtraMath is REQUIRED homework to be done on Thursday nights.

 Regular homework routine will start this week!

 No religion due to the short week. Instead, we will be having our fourth grade buddies coming to the classroom to help us with a couple projects.

 Our first Math quiz will be this week.

 Thursday-PTCO meeting 8:00 a.m. (2 service hours for attending)

Spelling Words Memory Words: I, my, she, her, he, his Pattern Words: d-f-w ish/ d-cr-tr ash/ l-p-cr- unch/ c-m-p atch Letter from the teacher

This week we will begin the first regular unit of “Adventures of the Superkids.” Most of the work is done as a class within the Superkids workbook or handouts. There are two units per each workbook, the workbooks will be sent home once they are completed.

At the beginning of each Superkids unit (every 7-10 days) we will be sending home a sheet with the spelling words and a “Backpack Page-Fluency.” The spelling words sheet will list the memory words, pattern words, dates of the quizzes and the directions for the “Backpack Page-Fluency” that will accompany the spelling words sheet. The “Backpack Page-Fluency” will be a reading passage that the kids will need to practice reading at home during the unit—the “Backpack Page-Fluency” should remain AT HOME for the child to be able to practice reading. I will have the kids read the fluency passage to me individually at the end of the unit. There will also be additional “Backpack Pages” that will be sent home during the course of the unit in order to give the kids more practice with the spelling words, those sheets will need to be returned as completed homework.

Your child will continue to bring home the math homework sheets that need to be completed nightly and returned to school the following day. We do not have a math lesson on Thursdays and on Fridays they do the homework page in class so they do not have homework for the weekend.

XtraMath is homework every Thursday. Everyone received a letter with the log-in information last week. Your child is expected to COMPLETE a session AT HOME on Thursday.
