5 ALBUMS GUIDE: SARAH VOICE

MARK RONSON ‘VERSION’ One of the most hotly anticipated albums to be released this year is by uber-producer, friend to the stars and all round nice guy, Mark Ronson.

‘Version’, released today features the singles, ‘Stop Me’ and his brilliant take of Radiohead’s ‘Just’ that propelled him to the limeight last summer. Other songs to have Ronson’s unique treatment on the album are Britney’s ‘Toxic’ and Coldplay’s ‘God Put A Smile On Your Face’

Ronson has worked with some of music biggest names and there’s no shortage of starry guest appearances. On this new album he’s worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Kasabian and Robbie all taking a bow. However, the biggest highlight must be Lily Allen singing on the albums version of Kaiser Chief’s ‘Oh My God’. Well worth checking out.

AVRIL LAVIGNE ‘BEST DAMN THING’ This weeks’ other big release is the new one by Canada’s very own Avril Lavigne. She may have recently married Deryck Whibley of ‘Sum 41’ fame, but it hasn’t mellowed the feisty queen of angst pop and The Best Damn Thing sees our girl back on Sk8er Boi form, as evident on recent single ‘Girlfriend’.

With a top 3 hit under her belt already, her fans are obviously still as keen for her music as they were with 2004’s ‘Under My Skin’.

DARREN Finally, something decent to spend my Christmas vouchers on.

SARAH Don’t be too hasty - next we have the Southend quartet SWITCHES with their new track ‘Lay Down the Law’. This is definitely worth a purchase.

DARREN Maybe I’ll treat myself to all of them.

SARAH Good idea! Maybe we could go shopping together?

DARREN We’ll see. Anyway here’s Matt, Max, Ollie and Jimmy with their new single which is out now.

DARREN That was Switches Laying Down the Law. Next is the happy-go-lucky MIKA with his new feel good tune “Love Today”

SARAH This man’s life is almost as random as his music. He was born in Beirut, he’s performed opera, and even written in-flight music for an airline.

DARREN His previous single ‘Grace Kelly’ was number one in no less than 5 countries, although the Russians weren’t so keen and left poor old MIKA at number 78.

SARAH We’re sure that with the help of Freshly Squeezed we can get him top of coveted Russian chart where he belongs.

DARREN Hello, welcome back to Freshly Squeezed. You’ve already missed so much, but we still have another half of me, DARREN JEFFRIES, and the lovely Sarah Hendy.

SARAH Now for those of you who don’t have celebrity birthdays strategically tattooed all over your body. It is in fact the thirty-third birthday of Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham.

DARREN No doubt our Vicky will be sitting at the breakfast table talking about what to do next. She already boasts numerous number 1 singles, cat walk appearances, her own fashion label, various houses, cars and a celebrity husband who has captained his country! All that by 33!

SARAH (Nodding) I remember being in the same boat.

DARREN You’ve achieved all of that?!

SARAH No I mean I was actually in the same boat - Dover to Calais a couple of years ago. Think her and Dave were going over there to grab some duty free.

DARREN Wow. How the other half live!

SARAH Anyway in fitting tribute, Freshly Squeezed are delighted to play the song that started it all. So Beckhams if you’re watching, which I know you are… crank up the volume.

SARAH Not so keen on that one. Any song that claim’s “If you wanna be my lover you’ve GOT to get with my friends” is just asking for trouble!

Now at Freshly Squeezed we like to mix it up a bit. It’s not just about good music, and great guest presenters. It’s also about giving the best interviews while you eat your breakfast.

DARREN And that leads us on to Just Jack. He’s just finished touring the UK, but if you just can’t wait for the festival season to start than you can catch them live tonight in Bourge, but that will involve a channel crossing!

SARAH You might even bump into the Beckhams on the way.

DARREN You never know.
