Downtown Dayton Optical Opens Its Doors New shop sells eyewear at very affordable prices

Dayton, Apr. 15, 2009 — Those looking to buy a new pair of glasses without breaking the bank have a new option downtown: Downtown Dayton Optical. The eyewear shop opened April 6 at 112 E. Third St.

Optician Kevin Harrington has been making and fitting eye glasses for over two years in addition to working his full time job with the City of Dayton. He was an apprentice at West Milton Optical in West Milton, Ohio.

“West Milton Optical is famous for offering glasses at very reasonable prices, and I wanted to bring that same quality and service downtown,” said Harrington. “Every frame in my shop is only $10, and a complete pair of glasses is only $40.”

Downtown Dayton Optical has over 1,000 frames to choose from. Patrons just need to provide a prescription from an optometrist or ophthalmologist, and Harrington takes care of the rest. He also offers very competitive pricing: two pairs of single vision glasses are only $60, two pairs of lined bifocals are $100, and two pairs of no line bifocals are $200. Additionally, he offers free tinting to turn any pair of glasses into prescription sunglasses.

Downtown Dayton Optical is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They can be reached at 937-461-2020.
