King Academy two out of three games 24 to win the elusive State Championship; and 25 26 Whereas, Leslie Chavis led the Andrew Jackson Softball Team to 27 victory with her superb pitching. She pitched six games over the 28 two days of the tournament, walked only two players, and allowed 29 only one hit in the final; and 30 31 Whereas, under the exceptional leadership of Head Coach, 32 William Hiers, and his Assistant Coaches, Jimmy Still and Johnny 33 Chavis, the Lady Confederates were able to win the State 34 Championship; and 35 36 Whereas, the members of the remarkable 2003 Lady Confederates 37 Softball Team included: Brandi Rentz, Leslie Chavis, Cassie 38 Walling, Annie Boswell, Pam Still, Faren Meyers, Kendra 39 Broughton, Lori Varnadoe, Candace Still, Natalie Gordon, Erika 40 Bessinger, Kristen Mixon, McKenzie Dobbins, and Brittany Phaff; 41 and 42

1 [4264] 1 1 Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to 2 honor the Andrew Jackson Academy Softball Team for winning 3 the 2003 Class A State Championship. Now, therefore, 4 5 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 6 concurring: 7 8 That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, 9 congratulate the Andrew Jackson Academy Lady Confederates 10 Softball Team on winning the South Carolina Independent Schools 11 Association Class A State Championship Title and commend the 12 hard work and determination of the players, coaches, staff, and 13 other school officials for their 2003 Class A State Championship 14 win. 15 16 Be it resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the 17 Andrew Jackson Academy Lady Confederates Softball Team. 18 ----XX---- 19
