I KNOW THIS HOT SHEET IS EXCRUCIATINGLY LONG. I DON’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP. (WELL, SOME OF IT I DO). PLEASE READ IT.

OH MY GOSH...... COMPETITION WEEK IS HERE!!!!!

Are you excited? Anxious? Scared? Ready to show our region what we are all about? Well, I am all of the above and then some. I am very excited for the weekend to get here! As for me, this will be a weekend of "firsts." First time singing on stage with "Hot Flash” - first time attending a director’s meeting, putting on a director’s costume, taking you thru the pattern and hearing my name attached to the great City of Flags Chorus! Then directing you thru 6 fun-filled minutes. First time as a director coming off stage with a sigh of relief and a rush of excitement as so many greet us with well wishes and good thoughts. Then back on stage for awards and medals. What a day and weekend this will be for us!

As I said last week, at this point we are what we are. We have a little clean up to do and we need to somehow remember to NOT SCREAM our uptune. Good solid singing will get us so much more than screaming. I would love for the weather to cooperate again so we can get outside but that is not looking good right now. We will do more row work with some rows, so please be thinking about you moves, choreographed or not. So, as you can see, we will be doing many run throughs again.

One more great Monday night, a Saturday morning rehearsal - and we are off to the race! How we will do is up to us and the judges. Just remember, no matter how we place, we worked hard, we had fun and we can all be proud of each other. And if you can, I would like to invite all of you to join me at my church this weekend for Music Ministry Sunday. All of my choirs will be ringing and singing. Christ United Methodist 600 East Gorgas Louisville. Service starts at 9:00 sharp. See ya Monday 7:15 sharp!! - Connie Note from Madelyn: I attended this last year and was spellbound at the beauty of the bells! Singing was great too!

MILITARY PACKAGES FROM THE CITY OF FLAGS CHORUS

This is my dear old dad, Warren F. Dunn. Today he would have been 90 years old. He told me all of his stories of WWII, but it was almost what he didn’t tell me that touched me the most. To see the pain and sadness in his face when he spoke of it after being away from that war for over 60 years spoke volumes to me. Our soldiers give so much of themselves, they miss so much, and they need to know how much they are appreciated. I know receiving a package from a stranger during those five years my dad was gone would have meant the world to him.

Let’s honor all of the veterans we know and have known, including our very own Colleen, by sending a huge box of love. Madelyn Susan LeMonte has graciously offered to organize this most worthy effort. The Louisville Middle School students, again, are preparing Military Care Packages May 9th through May 18th. With the help of the "Blue Star Mothers," the USO will ship all of the items over this year! Please refer to Hot Sheet 5/6/11 for all the details including requested items. Let’s show our support from the City of Flags Chorus to our men and women in uniform!

For more information, contact Susan LeMonte [email protected] 330-858-5642 – cell 330-875-5447 – home.

Memorial Day Parade – North Canton, OH: My husband and I have been invited to be in the parade with him driving a military vehicle and me driving a big white open top ’71 Blazer. The parade is Monday May 30, with a 09:00 step off time. The community section of the parade forms in the Memorial Stadium parking lot on 7th Street NE. The veterans/military section forms in the Dogwood Park parking lot on 7th Street NE. The route is from there to the square of town followed by a Memorial Ceremony at Bitzer Park.

So you have to ask yourself, “Do I feel lucky? Might I be one of the first callers and get to sing in the back of the truck representing our chorus?” And you might also want to ask yourself, “Would I feel safe with Madelyn driving?” Now that’s not fair. And no, I will not let my experienced bus driver friend, Carol, drive the truck. This is all, of course, contingent on me getting it out of the garage, getting it started hoping that I didn’t rip the transmission out of it last year. Also hoping that I can afford the gas this hog will drink. Let’s all think positive! - Your friend, Madelyn

*************************************************************************** Darryl’s Party – Sunday, June 5, 5 to 8 pm: You should have all received the formal invitation in your email this week. I hope that you know I was sort of kidding when I asked for your weight on the “not so formal” invitation response I handed out at the practice. I was thinking that if I had the weights of all members and then averaged them, it could sort of be a target weight for me to shoot for. Please do respond to me ASAP as to whether you plan to attend so we can get a count. Lots more info to follow!
