Cell Analogy Plane

Name ______Block _____ Cell Analogy Exercise

Example - The nucleus is analogous to our schools office, because it controls or coordinates the rest of the schools function.

My cell analogy is based on _A Prison______.

Nucleus – The nucleus is like the Wardens Office because it contains disperses all the

commands for the different procedures for the prison to conduct.

Nucleolus - The computer control room is like the nucleolus dispensing guards and distributing working prisoners (ribosomes) throughout the prison.

Chromatin –The chromatin is akin to the various files and command codes contained in the Wardens office and the computer control room.

Nuclear membrane - The security gate in between the commanding office section of the prison and the cell blocks (get it cell…blocks…HA) is like the nuclear membrane.

Nuclear pore - The main gate acting as the nuclear pore allowing only specified personnel to move through the gate.

Cytoplasm - The cytoplasm is like the different recreational and commons areas where all the license plates or other prisoner-manufactured products (proteins) are created.

Central vacuole/Vacuole - The prison storage room is the Vacuole where the blank license plates, wood, and other raw materials for the prison workers to use are kept.

Ribosomes - Prisoners are like the Ribosome’s working to manufacture goods for the prison and other places the manufactured goods being proteins.

Proteins – Are the license plate and other goods manufactured by the

Ribosomes/Workers Name ______Block _____ Endoplasmic Reticulum - The Endoplasmic Reticulum is like the carts push by the custodian/lysosomes in the prison that carry all the products to the mail room a.k.a. the

Golgi Apparatus.

Golgi apparatus - The Golgi Apparatus or mail room packages all the products in boxes/vessels and repackages all the mail coming from the outside of the prison after being checked for drugs and weapons and stuff.

Vessel –Are the boxes/vessels that the Golgi Apparatus uses to send and receive different products/enzymes & proteins.

Lysosomes - The Lysosome’s are those unruly or unlucky prisoners that got clean up duty and got to run around cleaning and what not.

Mitochondria - The prisons heating system is the Mitochondria burning fuel/ATP in order to create heat energy for the whole prison.

Chloroplast - The Chloroplasts are the prisons solar powered water heating system turning light from the sun into energy for the cell/prison to use.

Plasma membrane –The plasma membrane is the prisons guarded gates where the guards decided whom and what gets in or out of the prison/cell.

Cell wall – The prisons intricate perimeter of security fences is like the cells Plasma

Membrane.
