Notes Introductions – Marc introduced Council members that were present. New members introduced themselves.

Member Benefits – Marc discussed pamphlet describing benefits of AIAA membership. Marc spoke to some of the positions that were available for service where members could contribute. He also talked about setting up events, and the need for event assistance.

Speakers – Marc described the list of AIAA Distinguished Speakers which are available for presentations. AIAA National will provide funding for speaking events (dinner meeting, Lunch `n’ Learn, etc.) • 2 speakers/year for the Local Section • 1 speaker/year for student sections • National will also fund other speakers who are not on the AIAA Distinguished Speakers list Tours – There are many companies in the Dayton area that have efforts related to aerospace, and would provide opportunities for tours of their facilities. The Section has previously sponsored tours to some of these, but it has been a while since these took place. There is no reason that they could be re-visited.

STEM Activities – STEM activities are always looking for people to help out with engineering mentoring. Many opportunities to get involved either during week or on weekends. Need people to volunteer for 2-3 hour shifts is normal commitment.

Events – The Section has done happy hour events. The Section wants to do a “New Member” event every three months, as a social activity to tell people who we are. Caleb has done this in the past, but it does not have to be the same person hosting the event each time. The goal is to determine what people want to do, and to get activities on the website calendar.

Public Policy - There are two public policy events each year: 1) August for Aerospace, 2) Congressional Visits Day.

Web Page – Marc talked about the Section web page, and described some of its features. He indicated the location of links to social media sites. It was also pointed out that the page has an up-to-date calendar, which provides times, days, and dates of all Section events. Mike pointed out some of the events which are coming up in the near future. Aaron inquired about Section participation in the Dayton Air Show. Although the Section has sponsored attendance in the past, there are currently no plans for Local Section presence at this year’s Air Show. Jose is still looking into the possibility of participation.
