MOUNT WASHINGTON MIDDLE SCHOOL Regular Session SBDM Council Meeting Wednesday, August 19, 2015 MWMS SBDM Conference Room 3:30 p.m.

The SBDM Council met in regular session on Wednesday, August 19th at 3:30 p.m. in the SBDM Conference Room. Dr. Denise Allen called the meeting to order.

Ms. Gretchen Hilbert made a motion to approve the agenda for August 19, 2015 meeting. Ms. Tammy Powell seconded the motion and consensus was reached.

Ms. Leslie Herchenrader made a motion to approve the minutes from the July 30, 2015 meeting. Ms. Amy Kelty seconded the motion and consensus was reached.

Public Participation:

None

Principal’s Report:

. Honeymoons’ Over Meeting will be held on Friday, August 21st . Student Suicide Intervention Training will beheld next Tuesday, August 25th . There is no school on Monday, August 31st due to Teacher Planning Day . The Parent Meeting for the Costa Rica Trip will be Tuesday, August 25th

Attendance:

Dr. Denise Allen informed the council that the present enrollment is 485 students. This is a drop in enrollment of an average of 25 students.

Discipline Report:

No report at this time. Financial Report:

Dr. Denise Allen provided the council with the name of the new bank, Stockyard Bank.

Review of By-laws:

Dr. Denise Allen reviewed the by-laws with the council. The by-laws will be revised and reviewed next month with the council.

Review of Policy #21:

Dr. Denise Allen reviewed Policy #21 with the council. Several concerns were brought forth. The decision was made that Dr. Denise Allen will meet with council members Leslie Herchenrader and Tammy Powell to make recommended changes. The revised policy will be brought to the next regularly scheduled council meeting for 1st reading.

Textbook Plan:

Mr. Shawn Pickett, assistant principal, presented to the council the recommended purchase of Pre-AP Science books for the 8th grade Pre-AP Science class. This particular textbook has been recommended by the high school for purchase. The following number represents the breakdown of the purchase of these books:

Number of books: 33 Cost per textbook: $77 Total expenditure for textbooks: $2,769.23

Ms. Lori Cain made a motion to approve the recommended purchase of science books. Ms. Gretchen Hilbert seconded the motion and consensus was reached.
