Assignment 4 Concept Report

The target audience of my animation was kids ages 5-12 but not limited to this age group. I feel that this age range is one of if not the best time to teach kids life lessons, such as eating healthy. Unhealthy lifestyle has become a huge topic over the past few years so I decided to attempt to promote healthy eating to young children in a way they would be able to appreciate and understand and in a way that people older than this age group would also be able to get something out of this animation and not just label this as a “kids movie”.

I chose Pac-man as my mascot for this operation because of how easy it is to recognize Pac-man for people of all ages. Even though this game’s life in the spotlight ended before kids in this age group were even born they know the game by its sound and its images. I thought Pac- man was great for this topic because Pac-man eats the dots on the screen and the dots he eats effect how he interacts with the ghosts, similar to how what we eat effects the environment around us.

Because my animated pictures may not get my point across to all children I used text and pictures to further express my point. I animated the text so that kids would feel it was important and not lose interest because the movie ended. I also replaced some words with easily identifiable images so that they would think about what the message meant and having it stick instead of just reading it and forgetting it.
