The article seeks to address the question by exploring images and god posters dedicated to the planetary deity Shani on Web 2.0. The article tracks Shani’s presence on a range of online platforms—from the religion and culture pages of newspapers to YouTube videos and social media platforms. Using Shani’s presence on the Web as a case study, the article argues that content drawn from popular Hinduism, dealing with astrology, ritual, religious vows and observances, form a significant and substantial aspect of online Hinduism. The article draws attention to the specific affordances of Web 2.0 to radically rethink what engaging with the sacred object in a virtual realm may entail. In doing so, it indicates what the future of Hindu religiosity may look like. These places are generally situated in small or medium sized towns. Due to the sud- den huge conglomeration of people at one time, a number of problems are generated, which adversely affect the environment and public health. The prob- lems arising out of such activities mainly associ- ated with mass bathing, cloth washing, etc., are the pollution of rivers/lakes, pollution due to indis- criminate disposal of municipal solid waste, dis- posal of plastics, noise pollution, dust pollution, contamination of drinking water, etc. 10.1 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT A T RELIGIOUS PLACES These religious sites generally lack basic infrastruc- ture in terms of water supply, collection, treatment and disposal of sewage, disposal of municipal solid wastes, etc., and are thus unable to cope with the environmental issues posed by the large congrega- tions of devotees that visit them. The Board have established its working profile through infrastructures by setting up 11 Regional Offices , 41 Sub Regional offices , one Central Laboratory along with 06 regional laboratories. The total technical & scientific staff strength of Board is -------. In the State of Maharashtra, there are 250 No. of local Bodies (Metro cities, Corporations, ‘A’,‘B’ & ’C’ class Councils, Cantonment Boards & Nagar Panchayats ).The detail breakup of ULBs is as :- Corporations – 22; ‘A’ class Councils – 18; ‘B’ & ‘C’ class Councils – 203; Cantonment Boards – 03 & Nagar Panchayats – 04. Out of 250 ULBs, MPC Board have issued Authorization to 246 ULBs and Applications of 02 ULBs have been refused by the Board due to RRZ/CRZ notification .
