VIRGINIA BOARD OF NURSING INFORMAL CONFERENCES July 6, 2016

TIME AND PLACE: The informal conferences held before an Agency Subordinate of the Board of Nursing were convened at 9:00 A.M., on July 6, 2016 in Board Room 3, Department of Health Professions, 9960 Mayland Drive, Suite 201, Richmond, Virginia.

AGENCY SUBORDINATE: Nancy Durrett, R.N., M.S.

STAFF PRESENT: Jane Elliott, RN, PhD

OTHERS PRESENT: Cynthia Gaines, Adjudication Specialist

CONFERENCES SCHEDULED: Victor Kabba, CNA 1401-159048 Mr. Kabba appeared accompanied by “KD” Kabba, his wife.

Mr. Kabba was informed a recommended decision will be made and mailed to him within ninety days. This recommendation will be presented to the full Board; if accepted, an Order will be entered. As provided by law, this decision shall become a Final Order thirty days after service of such order on Mr. Kabba unless a written request to the Board for a formal hearing on the allegations made against him is received from Mr. Kabba within such time. If service of the order is made by mail, three additional days shall be added to that period. Upon such timely request for a formal hearing, the Order shall be vacated. CONFERENCES SCHEDULED: Sarah May, LPN 0002-087401 Ms. May appeared.

Ms. May’s case was closed due to insufficient evidence of a violation of the Nurse Practice Act or the Board of Nursing laws and regulations. CONFERENCES SCHEDULED: Angela Canty, CNA 1401-146530 Ms. Canty did not appear.

Based upon information provided by Ms. Gaines, Ms. Durrett ruled that adequate notice was provided to Ms. Canty.

A recommended decision will be made and mailed to Ms. Canty within ninety days.

CONFERENCES CONTINUED: Lindsay Byrum, CNA 1401-144553 Ms. Byrum appeared accompanied by Katherine Grizzle, her mother and Pricilla Myers, her aunt.

Ms. Byrum was informed a recommended decision will be made and mailed to her within ninety days. This recommendation will be presented to the full Board; if accepted, an Order will be entered. As provided by law, this decision shall become a Final Order thirty days after service of such order on Ms. Ferguson unless a written request to the Board for a formal hearing on the allegations made against her is received from Ms. Ferguson within such time. If service of the order is made by mail, three additional days shall be added to that period. Upon such timely request for a formal hearing, the Order shall be vacated. CONFERENCES CONTINUED: Danielle Regis, CNA 1401-171009 Ms. Regis appeared.

Ms. Regis’ case was closed due to insufficient evidence of a violation of the Nurse Practice Act or the Board of Nursing laws and regulations.
