This Week In

THIS WEEK IN: Math-- we will begin working on Ch. 9-More adding and Subtracting. We will be learning to show 4, 5, 6, and 7 in different ways and write problems to go with them. Now may be a good time to invest in a set of subtraction flash cards. Bible—There is chapel on Thursday. Girls may wear their uniform pants on chapel days and boys wear their oxford shirt and pants or shorts. Our memory verse is 2 Samuel 22:4. We will be talking about prayer and the different type of prayer. Language and Phonics – we will be working on rhyming, blending sounds into words, counting syllables, and spelling simple words sound by sound. We will have 1 decodable book and 2 sight words this week. Please visit the Library and get some easy readers to practice with your child. Science-- we will continue working on Chapter 3-Living and Nonliving Things. We will talk about how to tell if something is living or nonliving, and what living things need to live. Social Studies— we will be talking about making and reading maps. . EXTRA INFORMATION We have begun technology class this semester and the kids are VERY excited. We meet on Fridays in the High School library from 9:45 to 10:20. If there are any of you that would like to volunteer to help let me know. We could take turns helping Mr. Neifer with the kids. Just having someone to help log them in and out is a GREAT help! Our 100th day is next Tuesday, so I want to remind you about the 100 collection that each child will do for this day. Each child needs to bring in a collection of 100 things that will fit in a gallon size Ziploc bag. Some examples are 100- pennies, paperclips, goldfish crackers, mini marshmallows, M&Ms, buttons, small size Lego, etc. Children need to bring their collection in on Tuesday, February 5. I am attaching a Ziploc bag for you to use. Please remember to return your child’s towel to school if you haven’t done so yet. Also, students need to have a paint shirt at school. Please send an old shirt to be kept at school for art. Each Monday you will receive a newsletter like this in your child’s BEE folder. Please complete the daily “homework” then sign and return this sheet on Friday in the BEE folder. If your child is buying lunch, please put a note in his/her BEE folder and make sure to put money on his/her lunch account. Also, if your child is buying hot lunch, please don’t forget to send in a snack for the morning. I do keep some extras for those who forget but my supply is limited. Please make sure to return your child’s library book on Tuesdays, so they can be sent to the library to be checked in. Please remember that students are to wear socks with their shoes, belts with pants and shorts, and only white, dark blue, yellow, and dark green polo shirts are part of our uniform. Light blue polo shirts and girl’s button down shirts are not part of dress code.
