Amazing Bits-Happen From the desk of Angie Bertran-Harris; Principal

Volume I Issue 4

Dear Family and Friends of the Claude W. Richardson Child Development Center,

We had so much fun with our last learning theme “My Family and Friends”. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our community members for offering their time to share with the Richardson Rockets and allow them this occasion to explore the equipment, uniforms and vehicles. This hands-on opportunity is invaluable for young minds. I think our staff enjoyed this event as much as the students! The smiles were endless. I want to thank those who worked hard to make this event happen, especially Sargent Chris Johnson of the Bakersfield Police Department who contacted many of our community helpers, Ashley Brandon for her coordination of the event, and the Parent Advisory Committee for purchasing the pumpkins and refreshments for our guests. Thank you.

The playground renovation is well underway. Two new structures have been delivered. Every day we watch as the construction crew digs, pours, saws, drills and builds. We expect completion of Phase One of the project; The Universal Playground, Center Playground and the Sand Playground, in November. Look for information about our dedication ceremony in the near future.

Do you remember reading the story “Jack and the Bean Stalk”? I remember as a child wanting those magic beans. This classic is one of the stories we will be reading as part of our current curriculum theme, “Giants”. The “What I’m Learning Now” section will give you ideas on how you can extend this learning at home.

Finally, we have many fun events happening this month and next at the Richardson Center. We encourage all our parents to come and visit us and enjoy the fun of learning!

Sincerely,

Angie Bertran-Harris, Principal C.W. Richardson Child Development Center
