Dear Students Majoring in Education:
As many of you already know, Fitchburg State University has joined many other universities locally and nationally in adopting a web based system that will: document your coursework for each education course in one web-based location; maintain a record and evaluation of all of your field placements; and provide you the opportunity and system to develop an electronic portfolio.
At the same time, this electronic system will help the university to: guide you through the various stages and gates in the education programs; document all advising sessions and provide you and your advisor with easy access to all data such as MTEL scores, dispositions assessments, course grades, etc.; gather performance data to insure a comprehensive education preparation program.
Fitchburg State University has purchased the web-based system called Tk20: Campus Tools for Higher Education. The University made the decision to invest in this system because it will allow us and you to streamline and organize our work taking full advantage of the latest possibilities in electronic communication.
ACTION YOU NEED TO TAKE: Each student enrolled in an education course is required activate their subscription that provides access for seven years. This means you will be able to access the system after graduation and utilize the materials collected to showcase your work in an electronic portfolio for future employers.
To access your Tk20 account, go to https://fsc.tk20.com On the log-in page, left side, enter: Username: Enter your FSU FalconKey username that is also your email user name (include all numbers) Password: Enter your FalconKey password. Your FalconKey is the same password you use to retrieve your email, or log on to campus computers During each semester, at least one assignment in every education course will be designed so that it must be submitted through Tk20. This assignment, which will be evaluated by faculty using Tk20, will then be available for you to include in your electronic portfolio as well as any other document that you choose to store in your personal Artifact Room. Please log in to your Tk20 account soon and become familiar with its functions. Use the Student Tutorials and Guides for assistance.
If you have any questions about the TK20 system, you can learn about it at www.tk20.com or you can email the Fitchburg State University Help Desk. If you have questions about your user name or FalconKey username or password, contact the FSU help desk or Registrar.
Sincerely,
Pamela K. Hill, Ed.D. Interim Dean of Education
