2010 Greenville Badminton Tournament Fund-raiser for Pakistan Flood Relief

Oct. 2, 2010 (Saturday) 9:00am-6:00pm The Pavilion, 400 Scottswood Road, Taylors, SC 29687

Goal:  Fund raising for Pakistan flood victims: >1650 dead; 4000 villages washed out; 20 million people & 1/5 country affected; 3.5 million children at risk of disease…  100% tournament proceeds/donations go to American Red Cross for the flood relief. Tournament Format: Tournament format will depend on the number of people signing up. Preliminary plan:  Group round robin (short matches) to “filter” players into 3 divisions: . Gold division: higher ranked players from RR (Round Robin) compete in this division . Silver division: intermediate ranked players from RR compete in this division . Bronze division: lower ranked players from RR compete in this division  Single elimination rounds (longer matches) for each division.

Timeline:  8:30am: courts open for practice  9:00am: group round robin (doubles followed by singles)  12-1pm: Free lunch for all participants! (matches continue during this hour)  1-6pm: Elimination rounds for each division (doubles followed by singles)
