POSITION TITLE: Land Appraiser

SALARY INFORMATION: Based upon experience and education

LOCATION: Shalimar Property Appraiser’s Office

DESCRIPTION: Responsible for setting land values for the annual property value roll.

DUTIES : To collect, analyze, and summarize sales data.

Duties are performed under the supervision of the Land Department Supervisor who reviews performance for adherence to established policies and the achievement of desired results.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have a minimum of an AA degree or equivalent. It is desirable, but not mandatory, to have experience or courses in real property appraisal and mathematics. Must have the ability to learn modern principles of real property appraisal. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with the public, both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public at all times.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position works in a drug-free and smoke-free environment. You may be subject to exposure to adverse weather conditions, construction sites, and extreme temperatures. Applicant must be able to climb stairs, navigate uneven terrain and be able to lift 20-30 pounds.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License with a verifiable safe driving history. Will not be allowed to engage in any outside computer programming or consulting or real estate activities such as, but not limited to, acting as broker for others, performing fee appraisal work, or selling OCPA computerized database information for personal gain.

FINAL CANDIDATE SELECTED FOR POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A DRUG SCREEN, AND A THOROUGH EMPLOYMENT, CREDIT, AND CRIMINAL HISTORY INVESTIGATION.

TRAINING: All appraisers go through our in-house training program as well as attend formal courses required to become a State Certified Florida Evaluator (CFE).
