KSO MOXLEY CARMICHAEL MASTERWORKS SERIES PRESENTS MUSIC OF GRIEG & SIBELIUS APRIL 24 - 25
Knoxville, TN – April 10, 2014 – The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra presents Grieg & Sibelius as part of its Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series on Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. Tickets start at $15 by calling 865- 291-3310.
What: Maestro Lucas Richman and the KSO welcome guest pianist Andrew Staupe to perform Grieg’s famous piano concerto. Musical selections also include the Overture and Cockerel’s Dance from Nielsen’s Maskarade, concluding with Sibelius’ Fifth Symphony.
Who: American pianist Andrew Staupe has appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra on five subscription series performances since 2006, and has performed with the San Diegoand Houston symphonies, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and many other orchestras throughout the United States. He has collaborated with distinguished conductors Osmo Vanska, Jahja Ling, Andrew Litton, Daniel Hege, Kirk Trevor, Cristian Macelaru, and Mischa Santora. Staupe has performed across the United States and extensively in Europe, appearing in Russia, Romania, France, Germany, and Bulgaria. Staupe performed on American Public Media’s “Performance Today” with Fred Child in July 2012, a weekly program heard by over 1.3 million people around the U.S.

Tickets: Tickets start at $15 and may be purchased by calling 865-291-3310 or visiting our website. Single tickets range from $15.00 - $85.00. This performance qualifies in the Penny 4 Arts program, allowing free admission to Knox County students K-12 with purchase of an adult ticket.
