Q1.What is the Indus Valley Civilization?
In 1922, archaeologists made an exciting discovery, the remains of an ancient city from a previously unknown civilization. Since that time, archeologists have found over 1400 cities from the same civilization. We now call this the Indus Valley Civilization, since ruins of these cities have mostly been found in the Indus Valley of modern day Pakistan and India.

India is in south Asia. It is called a subcontinent since it is on a different tectonic place then the majority of Asia

A large land that juts out from a continent.
Q4.How is India separated from the rest of Asia?
India has water on three sides with the Indian Ocean being the most prominent body of water. In addition, in the north there are the Himalayan Mountains and the Hindu Kush Mountains, while in the east are thick tropical jungles, and in the west deserts.

A mountain range that runs 1500 miles on the border between India and Tibet. These mountains separate India from the rest of Asia. The 32 tallest mountain peaks on Earth are in the Himalayas.

From about 2500 BCE (perhaps as early as 3000 BCE) to 1500 BCE, an ancient and very advanced people built a civilization along the Indus River, in what is now modern day Pakistan with some built in modern day India. We call this civilization the Indus Valley Civilization.
Q10.Why did the people of the Indus Valley Civilization build their homes along a river?
Like most ancient civilizations they needed the river water to irrigate and grow crops. They also used water for cooking cleaning, washing and whatever else they could think of, including a trade route.
