GENERAL RULES:

*** CARS MUST PASS INSPECTION AT OUR TRACK. JUST BECAUSE IT PASSED AT ANOTHER TRACK DOES NOT MEAN IT AUTOMATICALLY PASSES INSPECTION AT OUR TRACK. IF CAR DOES NOT PASS INSPECTION, OR DRIVER IS UNWILLING TO CHANGE CAR TO PASS INSPECTION, ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS!!***

All rules will be followed, or you will not run!!

NO PASSENGERS!!

Any American made sedan, station wagon, or 2 wheel drive truck can be run. No imperials, or imperial sub-frames, 4x4’s, ambulances, hearses, limousines, etc.

Drivers must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Ages 16-17 must have a notarized permission slip and driver’s license.

Driver must wear seat belt and helmet, along with eye protection. Driver must wear long sleeve shirts and long pants at a minimum. No sleeveless shirts or shorts.

ALL drivers must attend the driver’s meeting.

DO NOT hit the driver’s door!! Sometimes this happens, but if it looks intentional or careless, you will be disqualified. Don’t use your door as a shield. It may cause you to get disqualified.

No hot rodding in the pits. Keep it at an idle.

Any open door or fire will cause disqualification. If in a heat, you may fix it and come back in the consolation.

NO sandbagging or holding!! You will be disqualified!!

You are given 90 seconds for aggressive hits, 1 minute for restarts and 1 minute if you are hung up.

NO ALCOHOL IN PITS. If anyone is caught with alcohol, they will be disqualified. This includes their pit crew.

Any controversies will be taken up at the driver’s meeting.

Any questions, give us a call!! If it doesn’t say you can do it, don’t do it. Call first!!

Judges decisions are FINAL!!!

CAR PREPARATION:

All cars must be stock, unless modification is stated in the rules.

All glass, plastic, chrome, and interior must be removed from car before arriving to the derby.

All decking in station wagons MUST be removed!!

Tires no bigger than 15 inch, no split rims, no studded tires or tractor lugs. Foam filled or doubled tires okay. We don’t want any flats!! Valve stem protectors okay.

Use motor and tranny of choice. Motor must be in stock location. You may chain or weld motor and tranny to keep in place. (Don’t strengthen the frame.) Use rear end of choice (must be 5 lug). You can tilt rear end if you wish. Welded or posi-track highly recommended.

You must use a radiator, and it must be in stock location.

All cars must have working brakes.

**A-arms and ball joints must remain stock.**

All trailer hitches and braces must be removed.

Original gas tanks must be removed. You must use a boat tank or well made fuel cell, and it must be properly secured and covered. No plastic tanks or gas cans. Fuel line must be secured and fastened properly. Keep away from exhaust. Place fuel cell behind driver’s seat or in the center of the car where the back seat used to be.

Transmission coolers will be allowed, but must be safe and properly secured.

Batteries must be moved to passenger floorboard close to transmission. It must be properly secured and covered.

You must have a number on each front door and one on top for judging and recognition of car.

CAR BUILDING:

WELDED CLASS:

Doors and trunk may be welded solid, etc. DO NOT weld on the frame or the frame seams, factory seams only – no homemade body seams. You can weld top frame seam from the front of the A-arms forward. Don’t weld bottom side.

If you don’t weld your doors, trunk, or tailgate, you can chain them with 3/8 chain or less, and you are allowed 2 chains per seam.

**For driver’s protection, you may weld bar behind the seat from doorpost to doorpost. It can be an X. You may also have a bar across your dash. You may connect the dash bar to bar behind seat across the inside of front door only. You may also weld your steering column in. You can also weld a plate across the driver’s door, not to exceed 6 inches past each seam. You may have a roll loop behind the seat, which must be welded to the floor and welded or bolted to the roof. No kickers going to the back or front of the car.

Bumpers are interchangeable, but must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc. You can weld brackets or towers to the frame. You can weld bumper brackets and shocks to the bumper. You can weld shocks to shock towers. You can collapse shocks and you can bolt the shocks to the towers with ½ inch bolt or less, and it must be done vertically. You may trim bumper ends or fold them around. When welding bumpers, shocks, and brackets, do not add any metal. Weld shocks and brackets solid if you wish. Weld them good. We don’t want any bumpers falling off!!

Don’t weld your bumpers to anything except brackets or shocks.

**Hood must have at least a 12 inch square hole cut out in case of fire. Any holes cut in hood may be bolted back together with 5/16 or less bolt. You can put a bolt every 12" or 4 per hole. You will be allowed 8 hood bolts. You MUST have at least 4 hood bolts. You may have up to 1" all thread—may be used from the hood down to the frame, but must go through the front body mounts. The top 5" of all thread may be welded to radiator support. Hood bolts must be sheet metal to sheet metal. Plates for hood bolts cannot exceed 5x5x1/2 inch. Hood bolts can be up to 1 inch in diameter.

4 – ¾ inch all-thread may go from the trunk lid to frame. You may use wire in 4 spots, with 4 loops from trunk lid and may go around the frame with the wire. CAN’T DO BOTH. Body mount bolts can be replaced or removed.

You can patch rust holes in sheet metal with sheet metal only! Do not cut rust out; weld 2 inches beyond ruse. Do not patch the frame or weld the body to the frame.

**Suspension must be at stock height. Leaf springs must be stock. You may add one spring as long as it’s the main leaf spring. You cannot wrap the added leaf spring to make a double main. Tow packages okay. Leaf springs must stagger down in stock spring length from longest to smallest. You can re-clamp springs, 4 clamps per side, homemade or factory. Homemade clamps can’t exceed 2x4x1/4 inch. You can put spacers in sagging coil springs to get your height. You can bolt or wire coil springs to rear-end and frame to prevent springs from falling out. You may weld leaf spring mounting brackets to prevent them from becoming unbolted. You can loop chain or wire from rear end to frame in 2 spots on each side.

Rear-end control arms may be strengthened and reinforced but must still be workable. You can run shifter through floor, and you can have switch panel. You may also have a hand throttle. If you are running an electric fuel pump, it must be hooked up to your ignition switch – so when your car shuts off – it shuts off.

You may alter your steering column to prevent loss of steering.

**You may cut wheel wells for tire clearance. Fenders may be bolted back together. The fender well may be trimmed and welded.

For safety, you are allowed 1 strap in each door window opening. Straps can be 2" wide, ¼" thick, and can be welded 5" on the door, and 5" on the roof. You may not use wire if you use straps. **Hardtop cars may have another strap at the door post.

You are allowed 2 spots with 4 loops of wire in each window opening, and may go to the frame.

**Tie rods may be strengthened and reinforced but must be workable.

Broken frames cannot be welded.

2 bars are required in front of driver from top of roof to top of firewall— no bigger than 1 inch in diameter—to keep hood from entering the driver compartment

No on-board watering systems allowed.

NON-WELDED CLASS:

NON-WELDED MEANS NO WELD.

No modifications of motor, drive train, tires, bumpers, frame, rear end, drive shaft or any other part of the car may be made except as specified in these rules.

Only an engine and drive train originally available on the vehicle may be used, with no modifications.

No body or frame reinforcing will be allowed.

Bumpers must be a stock passenger car bumper with no modifications.

All frames must remain in OEM stock. Don’t add cable, wire or chain tensioning in or outside of frame. Any driver caught with an altered frame at check in will not be allowed to enter that car. Suspension must remain stock. All cars must have some give or bounce. No stiff suspension. Do not weld suspension components including upper and lower control arms, tie rods, etc.

Remove all glass

2 bars are required in front of driver from top of roof to top of firewall— no bigger than 1 inch in diameter—to keep hood from entering the driver compartment

Move gas tank and battery. Fuel cell may be used.

Must have at least 1 door bar - no more than a 4 point cage.

Hood must have at least a 12 inch hole cut in it, in case of a fire

Hoods must open for inspection

Chain or bolt doors. NO WELD.

Chain hood and trunk. NO WELD OR RODS.

COMPACT CARS:

Any car that has a wheelbase of 107 inches or less and came factory with a 4 cylinder engine

You may run a 6 cylinder engine but it must be a car that came factory with a 4 cylinder engine. (example: Chevy Celebrity, Ford Fairmont, etc)

No AMC’s! (Pacer, Gremlin, Spirits, etc) These will be allowed to run in the mid-size class.

You may run a 4wd car, but you may only run it in 2wd (must remove the rear drive shaft, etc)

You may weld the doors, trunks and hatches solid (on the outside only). You may use filler rod (no bigger than 3/8 inch diameter) or flat stock (no wider than 3 inches and no thicker than ¼ inch) to do so.

If you do not weld your doors, trunks, or hatches, you may use #9 wire or chain (no larger than 3/8 inch and no more than 4 places per seam)

Hoods must open for inspection. You may bolt your trunk down thru the drip rails using 3/8 or smaller bolts/all-thread (10 places)

No metal straps or wire from the trunk lid (or tailgate) to the rear bumper

You may bolt the hood and trunk outer skins to the inner structure using ¼ bolts.

Hood must have at least a 12 inch hole cut in it, in case of a fire

You are allowed up to 8 hood bolts, no larger than ½ inch in diameter. Six of them may be bolted thru the frame (but not welded to the frame). You must have at least 4. Hood washers can be no bigger than 5x5x1/2 thick.

After inspection, you may wire your hood down to the bumper in 4 places with #9 wire (4 loops max)

Bumpers are interchangeable. Any automotive bumper or bracket may be used. Do whatever you want to the inside of your bumper, but the outside must remain stock appearing. No homemade bumpers or brackets. You may weld or bolt (or both) the bumper brackets/towers to the frame. You may weld the bumper brackets and shocks to the bumper. You may weld the shocks to the shock towers. You may collapse the shocks and weld them solid. You may trim the bumper ends, or fold them around and weld them. You may weld the bumper seams, and you may weld the outer chrome skin to the bumper frame itself.

You may not weld the bumper to the body

You may bolt the floor seams together on the inside of the car using ¼ bolts.

You may cut your wheel wells out of for clearance and bolt them back together using 3/8 or smaller bolts. (5 places)

You may weld your rear end.

Suspension must be stock height. Leaf springs must be stock. You may reclamp springs. (4 clamps per spring—homemade or factory). Homemade clamps cannot exceed 2x4x1/4 inch. You may put spacers in sagging coil springs to get your height. You may wire coil springs in to prevent them from falling out.

For drivers’ protection, you must have a bar behind your seat from doorpost to doorpost (no larger than 4 inches in diameter). You must also have a windshield bar (from the roof to the dash). You may run a bar across your dash, which you may connect to the bar behind your seat on the inside of the front doors only. NO KICKERS! You may run a plate on the outside of the drivers door (but it may not be wider than 6 inches and it may not exceed 6 inches past the door seams). You may run a roll over bar (roll loop).

TECH INFORMATION:

Cars will be teched from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Race will begin at 7:00 pm. Absolutely no cars will be teched after 6:00 pm

Only driver and pit crew in tech area

Once your car is teched—you need to leave tech area

Hoods are to be removed in the tech area.

IF A CAR DOES NOT PASS INSPECTION OR DRIVER IS UNWILLING TO CHANGE CAR TO PASS INSPECTION----NO REFUNDS!!!!

OFFICIALS MAY DISQUALIFY ANY CAR THEY RULE UNSAFE!!!!!!!
