Advent and Christmas

Advent and Christmas Chapters 13 & 14

1. During the four weeks of Advent we prepare for Jesus’ birth.

2. The word Advent means “coming”.

3. The Liturgical color for Advent is purple.

4. The Jesse Tree is Jesus’ family tree.

5. The Advent Wreath is a way of counting the Sundays in Advent and to prepare for Jesus’ coming.

6. Three candles are purple and one is pink.

7. We light the pink candle the week before Christmas.

8. We celebrate Jesus’ birth on December 25th, Christmas Day.

9. The liturgical colors for Christmas are white and gold.

10. During the season of Christmas, we celebrate that the Son of God was born to save us.

11. During Advent and Christmas, Jesus is called Emmanuel.

12. Emmanuel means “God with us”.

13. Abraham was the first great leader of God’s people.

14. Moses led the people through the desert and was given stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments were listed.

15. Noah saved his people from the flood.
