Purpose

Purpose: Supervises and coordinates advising efforts of undergraduate and graduate staff advisors. Knowledgeable in all aspects of university academic advising practices. Familiar with the College of Education and Health Professions and UT Arlington policies, procedures and regulations. Essential Functions

Function 1: Direct the advising efforts of the undergraduate advisors. Improve advising practices and enhance the performance of advising team. Liaison for communications with program directors, department chairs, other departments on campus, and community colleges. Train and Supervise 5 academic advisors. 30 % Time Function 2: Coordinate with program directors and department chairs to ensure all policies and procedures are current and to make sure effective communication is maintained between departments. 25 % Time Function 3: Collect and maintain student data for informational and reporting purposes. Reports student data to the state in the form of a list of all candidates who have completed a certification program, to include the program completed and the academic year of completion. Monitor student retention, withdrawals/dismissals and track community college transfers. 20 % Time Function 4: Coordinates outreach events with staff advisors, i.e., preview days, graduate advising meetings, COEHP student orientations. 15 % Time Function 5: Serve as counselor of Kappa Delta Pi and advisor for the Education Constituency Council. Maintains the budget for Kappa Delta Pi, and trains the student officers in their functions as established by the KDP Chapter By-Laws. 10 % Time Function 6: % Time Function 7: % Time Function 8: % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions

Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other functions as assigned. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Master's degree with 1 year of experience in higher education advising. Applicants must include in their online resume the following information: 1) Employment history: name of company, period employed (from month/year to month/year), job title, summary of job duties and 2) Education: If some college or college degree, list school name, degree type, major, graduated or not, and hours completed if not graduated. Preferred Qualifications: 3 years of experience in higher education advising with 1 year of supervision. Knowledge of teacher and principal certification issues. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication skills.
