3 main areas: THOUGH DISTURBANCES- cognition AFFECT- associated with mood expressions, flat affect, incongruence, inconsistent PERCEPTION- the five senses

DELUSIONS- are fixed false beliefs, not percetions. Cannot be changed by logic. Ex. Delusions of grandeur, thinking they are someone important or great. May also have delusions of being persecuted, or be suspicious.

GUILT- feel they might have done something wrong. Are preoccupied with religious activites. VIOLENCE- feel threatened or frightened. Is a rare occurrence. COMMAND HALLUCINATIONS- voices telling them to do dangerous things to themselves or others. AUTISM- prefer to be alone . show little concern to reality around self SCHIZOPHRENIA- they also make up words AMBIVILANCE- having the opposite feeling for the same person. Ex. Love/hate for same person. HALLUCINATIONS- are ideas, perceptions of something that is not there. ILLLUSIONS- misconception of something that is there.
