National Certificate in Design (Draughting) (Level 2)

Level 2

Credits 70

This qualification is expiring. The last date to meet the requirements is 31 December 2013.

Purpose

This qualification is designed for people who are entering the draughting sector of the design industry. It is a combination of theoretical and practical skills which can be acquired on or off job.

This qualification recognises the need to allow individuals greater career flexibility and includes a broad range of generic unit standards within the qualification. While these generic unit standards can be obtained at any stage during training for the qualification, they are required before final credit can be awarded.

The Design industry has developed three qualifications to meet the varying requirements of people involved in the industry. The National Certificate in Design (Introductory Skills) (Level 2) [Ref: 0461] and the National Certificate in Design (Level 3) [Ref: 0462] are broad based design qualifications that lead on to the National Diploma in Design with strands in graphic design, spatial design and product design. The National Certificate in Design (Draughting) (Level 2) [Ref: 0640] will provide the entry knowledge and skills for people wishing to progress to the National Diploma in Architectural Technology [Ref: 0357].

Special Notes

This qualification has been designed on the assumption that people entering courses or programmes of study leading towards the award of the certificate have demonstrated ability in mathematics, general science and physics. Such ability may be indicated by unit standards in these domains at levels 1 and 2 or Sixth Form Certificate passes.

Requirements for Award of Qualification

Award of NZQF National Qualifications

Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification.

Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) website: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/qualifications-standards/standards/standards-exclusion- list/.

Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). Any version of a standard with the same ID may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the ID and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard.
