Where is Bay Lake Camp located? Bay Lake Camp is located in Deerwood, Minnesota about 2 ½ hours north of the Twin Cities. The camp facilities are located on an island on Bay Lake and are operated by the First Lutheran Church of St. Paul. Youth Performance Company rents the facilities for the duration of the camp. Transportation is provided to and from the Twin Cities.
The camp mailing address is: Bay Lake Camp 16257 Brighton Point Road Deerwood, MN 56444-8597
If you’d like to send letters to your camper, please allow 3-4 days for delivery. Mail early!!
Who are the camp staff? Professional camp counselors with years of residential camp experience will be facilitating all activities and leading cabin groups. A camp nurse will also be joining us for our week at Bay Lake. We are proud to have a 1:3 staff to camper ratio. Bay Lake Camp provides our group with facility managers, kitchen staff and lifeguards. In addition, Youth Performance Company will be sending three of our guest teaching artists to camp to lead theatre activities. They will have daily theater training in addition to all the outdoor amenties that come along with camping.
What are the sleeping arrangements like? Campers will be housed in the brand new Red Cedar lodge! They will sleep in dormitory style housing with 4-5 campers and one counselor per cabin group. The lodge is complete with brand new furniture and an individual full bathroom with a shower inside each dorm room. Other facilities include a brand new dining hall, new classroom facilities, basketball court, swimming beach, hiking trails, canoes and kayaks, a labyrinth, large rec field, water volleyball court, and 2 campfire rings.
What is the food like? Delicious! (no, seriously!)
Will my child get cell phone reception at camp? Most phones receive reception at camp. However, campers are encouraged to leave valuable items such as cell phones at home. If campers choose to bring cell phones, they do so at their own risk and will be restricted to using them only during a short break after lunch and at night after campfire so they do not distract from camp activities.
How can I reach my child at camp? In case of emergency, you can contact the camp director, Julie Magnuson, on her cell phone at 651-325-5041. She will be checking voicemail regularly. Bay Lake Camper Survey
