Expression of Interest Literacy Teacher

Expressions of interest are invited for the position of Literacy Teacher at Prairiewood High School from 27th January 2017 until 19th December 2017, with the possibility of an extension beyond this date.

An expression of interest addressing the criteria, of no more than 2 pages in length should be submitted to Sarelle Young at [email protected] by no later than 25th November, 2016.

Prairiewood High School is a year 7 to 12 comprehensive, coeducational and partially academically selective school of over 1100 students. It is located in Wetherill Park and has an Index of Community Socio-Economic Advantage (ICSEA) of 971. The school caters for a diverse student population with 79% of students from a wide range of non-English speaking backgrounds and three Special Education classes. There are currently 60 academically selective students in each year group. Prairiewood High School is held in high regard by its community and has Excellence in Learning, Wellbeing and Collaborative Communities as its strategic directions.

Selection criteria

Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare and deliver relevant, differentiated and challenging literacy programs that improve student learning outcomes for gifted and talented, mixed ability, EAL/D and students with specific learning needs, using evidence based, effective teaching practices

Demonstrated ability to assess, monitor and report literacy progress against the Literacy Continuum

Demonstrated capacity to work alongside teachers across the school to both model and support effective teaching and assessment skills in literacy

Well-developed communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to work as part of a team to support whole school directions

An additional one page Curriculum Vitae outlining relevant teaching and leadership experience is recommended.

Applicants are asked to include the names of two professional referees, one of these must be the applicant's current Principal or supervisor. Applications must be endorsed by their current Principal, if applicable, indicating their Principal's willingness to release the applicant from their current position. Please provide their details by completing and submitting the attached referee form with your application.
