Fundraising Manager Job Description & Person Specification

Hours 35 hours per week Reports To Chief Executive Place of Work 47 Tooting Bec Gardens, London, SW16 1RF Salary £38,000 – £40,000

The Nehemiah Project is a small Christian charity, based in South London, that provides professional and life changing support for men trapped in a spiral of addiction and crime. Our programmes address the root issues that cause men to turn to substance abuse, to help them to break free from addictive and criminal behaviour and to begin to rebuild their lives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the work that we do.

The main objective of the role is to develop and deliver a robust fundraising strategy to meet the growing financial needs of the charity as set by the Chief Executive and to be an integral part of the management team and to feed into the overall strategic direction of the charity.

Job Description

1) To develop and deliver a robust fundraising strategy to meet the growing financial needs of the charity as set by the Chief Executive. 2) To be an integral part of the management team and to feed into the overall strategic direction of the charity. 3) The Fundraising Manager will manage all fundraising, marketing and communication activities to secure a significant increase in income across all revenue streams including charitable trusts and foundations, individuals, major donors, churches and corporates. 4) The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for supporting The Nehemiah Project to generate relationships with new funders and identify new income streams to support the charity through a period of growth. 5) You will develop and implement innovative giving campaigns that drive donor acquisition, development and retention across all donor groups including individual givers, major donors, churches and corporates. 6) You will manage fundraising volunteers. 7) You will develop communication materials including regular newsletters, annual report, leaflets, e-newsletters and the website. 8) You will manage a programme of fundraising events, with the Marketing and Fundraising Volunteer/s, including the London Marathon, Ride 100 Bike Ride and the Charity Ball. 9) You will manage a database of supporters, maintaining strong records and ensuring the reconciliation of income against this database. 10) You will represent the charity at a wide range of settings including churches, community groups and corporates. 11) You will be part of the Senior Management Team of the charity. 12) Occasional travel will be required, as will occasionally evening and weekend attendance. Person Specification

1) Commitment to the rehabilitation of men from crime and addiction and a passion to see their lives transformed. 2) Considerable fundraising experience (minimum 5 years) 3) Experience of writing a fundraising strategy, producing regular fundraising reports for the CEO and the board and manging budgets. 4) Ability to combine strategic thinking with the delivery of operational work. 5) Proven track record of fundraising from individual, major donors, corporates and trusts and foundations; good research skills; in depth knowledge of trusts and foundations; experience of producing high quality grant applications and reports; and an existing network of funder and donor relationships. 6) Ability to produce project budgets, understand fundraising for restricted income and ability to read and interpret charity accounts. 7) Familiarity with relevant marketing channels, including print, online and social media. 8) Excellent written and oral skills; an ability to write for social media, web and print and speak to diverse audiences. 9) Highly organised with strong problem solving skills 10) Highly self-motivated with the ability to work within a team environment. 11) Highly IT literate and familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel. 12) Familiar with Raiser’s Edge, ideally experience of using it to produce reports, track appeals, segment donors for targeted appeals and for gift aid claims. 13) Experience of managing staff and volunteers and contributing to the management direction of the charity. 14) Ability to work under pressure with a number of conflicting priorities 15) Behaves in an open, honest and ethical manner and acts with integrity. 16) Commitment to promote equal opportunities and diversity 17) The preferred candidate is someone who is committed to the Christian ethos of the charity
