Defence will enhance their military platform (e.g. military vehicles, naval vessels, etc.) simulation and training systems over the next decade to support the introduction of new technologies and capabilities into the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

The Defence workforce will increase the number of operators and maintainers for these military platforms, predominantly with the younger ‘Millennial’ generation. This generation of Defence will become the future for the ADF who will be trained to operate and maintain the new platforms and capabilities utilising simulation and digital training systems.

Video games are played by 68% of all Australians. (Ref: Digital Australia Report 2016). The advancements in technology and graphic design continue to enhance the gaming experience, making it feel more realistic, and thus more relatable. It is an expectation from the millennial generation that the presentation of information is delivered in such a way that it is relatable to the user. It is also important that the experience is engaging to the user to ultimately improve the retention of information.
