Hours: up to 30 hours a week
Salary scale: NJC scale P04/P05 - points 41 – 46
Salary: £36,379 - £41,025 (pro rata)
Location: Clarence House, Horsforth, Leeds LS18
Responsible to: Chief Executive
Annual leave: 28 days (plus 8 Statutory) (pro rata)
Pension: 3% contributory pension scheme enhanced by salary exchange
Probationary Period: All posts are subject to a six-month probationary period.

1 Job Description Business Development Director
Main purpose of the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive the post holder will have strategic responsibility for business development and income generation across Leeds Mind together with formulating and achieving challenging income targets. A key focus is to diversify income streams and increase unrestricted income. Responsible for driving forward income generation, the Business Development Director will have the commercial flair and acumen to increase levels of income from training and fundraising together with increasing funding from charitable trusts and other grant making bodies. The post holder will work closely with the Operations Director and service managers at Leeds Mind to promote cross service development and commercial opportunities.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
1. To be an active and effective member of the Senior Leadership Team. 2. Contribute to the development of the Leeds Mind Strategy and to the annual service planning process. 3. Provide strong leadership and management to the Business Development function (bid writing, training, fundraising and communications). 4. Conduct regular 1:1s and performance management reviews with staff against agreed objectives and identify training needs.
Business Development
1. Develop and implement a strategy and a framework for business development in line with the Leeds Mind strategy. 2. Keep abreast of local and national developments in mental health to identify new service opportunities for Leeds Mind in line with the strategy. 3. Ensure that the website and marketing materials are of high quality and up to date. 4. In conjunction with the Chief Executive develop and deliver a communications strategy to raise awareness of Leeds Mind and mental health generally. 5. Monitor and investigate tendering opportunities within the Yorkshire region and lead on subsequent bids through a clear process. 6. Develop a network of partners and providers to promote development opportunities across the region. This will include developing robust partnership agreements. 7. Work with colleagues on the renewal or retendering of existing contracts. 8. Identify opportunities for awards and apply for these as appropriate.
2 Income Generation
1. Working with the Chief Executive drive forward the income generation strategy to increase the level of voluntary income to agreed budgets and targets over the period of the strategy. 1. Develop a marketing plan to promote and sell training and the commercial offering externally to employers. 2. Develop a list of priorities from the service plans that can be used as the basis for trust applications as opportunities arise. 3. Working independently or with other local Minds investigate the possibilities around increasing corporate and community fundraising and make recommendations for developing these income streams. 4. Develop a ‘friends of’ or membership structure within Leeds Mind. 5. Develop and keep up to date the CRM database for communicating with training opportunities, donors, members and partners to generate income and raise awareness of Leeds Mind, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.
Organisation
1. Attend and participate in service/team meetings. 2. Participate in 1:1s, performance and development, including Leeds Mind compulsory training programme. 3. Be an active and effective member of the senior leadership team, attending and contributing to weekly meetings. 4. Give informed talks and presentations to a variety of audiences as required. 5. Work within Leeds Policies and procedures. 6. Promote the values, behaviours and ethos of Leeds Mind. 7. Promote the possibilities for empowerment of service users. 8. Demonstrate a commitment to personal development. 9. Be involved with wider organisation activities. 10. Undertake any other reasonable duties as and when required.
