Information Resources, Inc, releases an annual report on products that are pacesetters among food and nonfood products. Here are the Top 10 Pacesetters for 2012.
1. Dannon Oikos®—yogurt ($283.8 million) One container of Oikos Nonfat Black Cherry Yogurt contains 130 calories, 0 grams (g) fat, 21 g carbohydrate, 20 g sugar, 12 g protein, and 0 g fiber.
2. Starbucks® K-Cup®—coffee ($198.9 million) Coffee contains no calories, fat, carbohydrate, sugar, protein, or fiber.
3. Bud Light Platinum®—beer/ale/alcoholic cider ($162.2 million) Bud Light Platinum contains 137 calories/bottle. Regular Budweiser contains 145 calories/can. Bud Light Platinum contains no fat, sugar, protein, or fiber and 4.4 g carbohydrate.
4. TruMoo®—milk ($158.3 million) One cup of chocolate TruMoo contains 140 calories, 2.5 g fat, 1.5 g saturated fat, 20 g carbohydrate, 18 g sugar, 8 g protein, and 0 g fiber.
5. Breyers Blasts!®—ice cream/sherbet ($147.3 million) One-half cup of Breyers Blasts! Mrs. Field’s® Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough ice cream contains 140 calories, 4.5 g total fat, 3 g saturated fat, 23 g carbohydrate, 15 g sugar, 2 g protein, and 0 g fiber.
6. MiO—drink mixes, energy drinks, and sports drinks ($126.7 million) MiO is calorie free when used according to directions. It therefore contains no fat, carbohydrate, sugar, protein, or fiber.
7. Sparkling ICE®—bottled water ($122.7 million) Sparkling ICE contains no calories, fat, carbohydrate, sugar, protein, or fiber.
8. Nature Valley® Protein Bars—snack/granola bars ($95.7 million) One Nature Valley Peanut, Almond & Dark Chocolate Protein Bar contains 190 calories, 12 g fat, 3.5 g saturated fat, 14 g carbohydrate, 6 g sugar, 10 g protein, and 5 g fiber.
9. Orville Redenbacher’s® Pop Up Bowl™—popcorn/popcorn oil ($92.1 million) Four cups of butter popcorn from a pop-up bowl contains 170 calories, 12 g fat, 6 g saturated fat, 17 g carbohydrate, 0 g sugar, 2 g protein, and 3 g fiber.
