Fundraising & Marketing Assistant (16 hours per week)

Job Description

To support the growth of Life Cycle’s fundraising programme by assisting the Fundraising Manager with fundraising, income generation, marketing and administration.

The role will include research, record keeping, reporting and the opportunity to help make bids for funding. As well as being a strong team player, the Fundraising Assistant will be able to work independently, be extremely well organised and able to manage a diverse workload.

Main duties

 Assist the Fundraising Manager to research funding opportunities, eligibility criteria and application deadlines for Charitable Trusts and Foundations; Corporate Foundations; Local Authorities and other grants steams.  Work with the Fundraising Manager to draft letters and applications to a range of funders ensuring that applications meet requisite deadlines.  Maintain accurate records of all fundraising including bids submitted; incoming donations and monitoring deadlines, using Life Cycle’s CiviCRM database.  Thank supporters by letter, email and telephone, as appropriate, ensuring they receive a high quality and timely response.

 Work with project staff to ensure projects are monitored accurately and help the Fundraising Manager to draft reports to funders.

 Work with Fundraising Manager to draft quarterly reports for Life Cycle’s Trustees; help compile and distribute Life Cycle’s annual review to donors, supporters and key contacts.  Work with the Fundraising Manager and CEO to plan and organise fundraising events and/or showcase our projects to donors, key stakeholders and the public

 Support Life Cycle’s volunteers to raise money through sponsored activities

As part of the Life Cycle team, the post holder will be expected to be involved in any team task, within reason, to ensure all organisational objectives are realised. Work will include:

. Attending events and key networking meetings . Attending regular staff meetings and team-building events . Answering phones, taking bookings, completing postal requirements etc.

Person specification

You will be interested in a career in the voluntary and community sector and will be looking for a role where you can develop your fundraising and communication skills. With strong administrative skills you will be able to identify and manage own priorities and work independently, as well as contributing to team plans.

Skills and knowledge:

Essential: . Interest in communication, marketing and fundraising . Highly organised, methodical and able to deal with multiple tasks and priorities . Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills . High standard of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office systems . Strong research skills . Ability to learn quickly and take on board new ideas and information. . Good grasp of social networking sites

Desirable: . Knowledge of cycling issues and their relevance to environmental, health, transport and social inclusion agendas . Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team

Qualifications and experience:

Essential: . Educated to A level or equivalent . Experience of volunteering or working for a voluntary/community organisation

Desirable: . Experience of marketing/fundraising/campaigning or similar with the aim of engaging the public in an issue close to your heart. . Experience of fundraising in the charitable sector.

Probationary period The first 3 months of your employment shall be a probationary period and your employment may be terminated during this period at any time on one week's prior notice. We may, at our discretion, extend this period for up to a further 3 months. During this probationary period your performance and suitability for continued employment will be monitored. At the end of your probationary period you will be informed in writing if you have successfully completed your probationary period.

Salary . £17-19,000 pro-rata, depending on experience. This role is at Life Cycle Salary Grade 2. . Salaries are paid monthly in arrears on 28th of each month and reviewed annually. . Life Cycle will make a matched contribution to your personal pension up to a maximum sum equivalent to 5% of salary. . Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

Contract . This is a 12-month fixed term contract. Subject to performance and funding, we may choose to extend this, at our discretion.

Hours . This post is for 16 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work is likely.

Flexible working . Life Cycle offers flexible working arrangements to suit people with childcare responsibilities or additional part time work. . Days and hours of work are negotiable

Location . You will be based at Life Cycle’s main office: The CREATE Centre, Smeaton Road, Bristol BS1 6XN.

Annual leave . Annual leave entitlement is 20 days plus 8 days to cover bank holidays, pro-rata.
