BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AND TO WISH 15 HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS 16 FUTURE ENDEAVORS. 17 18 Whereas, from 1974 to 2013, Charles Edward Wilson, Sr., served 19 as a member of the Santee Electric Cooperative Inc. Board of 20 Trustees, retiring after thirtynine years of distinguished service to 21 the members of the cooperative; and 22 23 Whereas, born on July 21, 1942, Charles Edward Wilson, Sr., was 24 the son of Robert Wilson, Sr., and Alice Easterling Wilson of 25 Salters. A 1964 graduate of Tomlinson High School in Kingstree, 26 the young Charles obtained his barber’s license from the State of 27 South Carolina and pursued further studies at Williamsburg 28 Technical College, where he received a certificate for repairing 29 small engines; and 30 31 Whereas, Mr. Wilson was employed by Drexel Heritage Furniture 32 Company, Inc., in Kingstree for several years. In addition, he 33 worked for Baxter Travenol Laboratories, Inc., for twentyseven 34 years until the plant closed in 1995. He also worked as a bus driver 35 for Williamsburg School District. Currently, he is employed by 36 RedmondRichardson Funeral Home; and 37 38 Whereas, the first black appointed to the Santee Electric 39 Cooperative Inc. Board of Trustees, Charles Wilson also was the 40 first black to be elected trustee for the Santee Electric Cooperative 41 by the members at large. Further, Mr. Wilson served on the 42 Williamsburg County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Committee. As a
[902] 2 1 man of faith, he is a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist 2 Church in Salters, where he serves on the board of trustees; and 3 4 Whereas, Charles Wilson finds strength for his labors in the strong 5 support of his family: his wife of fortynine years, the former Helen 6 Susie Mae Epps; their five children, Thaddeus, Chandra, Felicia, 7 Corey, and Charles; and their eight delightful grandchildren, 8 Alexis, Ashton, Ahmad, Joshua, Caleb, Christina, Gabrielle, and 9 Myles; and 10 11 Whereas, grateful for the legacy of consistent commitment and 12 leadership Charles Wilson has bestowed on this great State, the 13 Senate takes great pleasure in wishing him well and trusts he is 14 finding much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of his 15 retirement days. Now, therefore, 16 17 Be it resolved by the Senate: 18 19 That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, 20 congratulate and commend Charles Edward Wilson, Sr., for 21 thirtynine years of service as a member of the Santee Electric 22 Cooperative Inc. Board of Trustees, and wish him continued 23 success and happiness in all his future endeavors. 24 25 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 26 Charles Edward Wilson, Sr. 27 XX 28
