Self-Guided Research Project

Self-Guided Research Project Due: Mon. Sept. 27

Basics:

 2-3 pages typed, double-spaced, 12-point font, 1” margins, Times New Roman or Arial font.

 Any topic of your choice, but keep it school appropriate. See Heather for ideas.

How to do research:

 Take notes on URL page. Your handwritten notes will be turned in.

 Avoid printing off anything you do not intend to use.

 Keep a list of websites (and any other publications—books, magazines, etc.) you use. You will use this list to create your bibliography. Others will then know where to find the information you shared in your project. (Bibliography sample on bottom of URL page.)

Important Information:

 Organize your writing. Your introduction (first paragraph) will discuss what you knew (or thought you knew) at the beginning of your research. Was your information correct? If not, tell us what you found out.

 Use “school language”. Avoid abbreviations, slang, etc.

 Integrity: Do your own work! Do not copy another author’s words and say they’re yours—that is plagiarism. Do not copy and paste from a website into your document.

 Optional: Cover page. You can use photos from the internet or use your own artistic abilities.

 NOTE: The cover page and the bibliography do not count as part of your 2-3 pages! Topics for Self-Guided Research Project PROJECTS
