“The Preposition Song” (Sung to “Yankee Doodle”) About, above, across, after Against, along, amid
Among, around, atop, and at These are prepositions Before, behind, below, beneath Beside, between, beyond
By, concerning, down and during These are prepositions
Except, for, from, past, since, regarding
Like, near, of and off
On and onto, out and outside
In and inside, into
Through and throughout, to and toward Under, underneath, Up, upon, until, within
Without and finally… with! Oh no we’ve forgotten (pronounced “for-gah-ah-ten”) What a massive blunder Here’s a clue to help you through:
It’s the antonym of under!!! (Over!)
*Underlined parts of words are where the stress is placed. **Bold printed words are prepositions ***Adapted from a song posted on the Pro Teacher Community Message Boards. Thanks to JCH for sharing. I added the last verse to account for the omission of “over”.
