This is the only class that fulfills the .5 computer requirement for graduation. Class is offered in grades 9-12. Pre- requisite Keyboarding 1 and/or Elementary Keyboarding. Correct fingering by touch and good techniques will receive primary emphasis; speed and accuracy will be given secondary emphasis. Students can expect to make a tool tote, scale model shed, a lathe project and other woodworking projects as time allows. Students will work with concrete. Basic residential construction from drafting a floor plan, how walls are built and what materials are used to make a house are also taught. Student’s projects and activities include a lathe turned wood pen, clock, and penny hockey game. Other activities include metal shearing, spot welding and other welding. Students will participate in mass producing a class shop project. Shop projects and activities will reinforce those concepts and include: hydraulic robot arms, electronics, mousetrap powered cars, boat hull design, airplane design, and alternative energy. SCE Physics with Technology is a lab based science class with 1-3 labs per unit. It is very hands on. The course studies force, work, rate, resistance, energy, and waves and see how these concepts apply to mechanical, electrical and thermal systems. The math at Physics with this level will only involve basic concepts with plugging information into formulas to 72160 X X Technology solve the problems. Students learn to employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human socioeconomic organization and its environmental consequences. They also learn about the methods and tools geographers use in their research and applications. This class will provide students with a learning experience equivalent to that obtained in most college- level introductory human geography courses with the chance to earn college credit. Covers religious class work. The course is not a Release Time part of the 78010 X (Seminary) public school program. No credit is given for this course.
