Context

All over the UK, the community fundraising team (both staff and hundreds of fundraising volunteers) raise funds to ensure that the British Red Cross is there to help people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.

We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.

Scope The fundraiser role sits within the community fundraising team and the fundraiser is required to raise income from a diverse range of sources. This is a ‘hands on’ fundraising role – working with staff, volunteers and varied communities to raise funds. Recruiting and training new volunteers to organise/attend events; ensuring income is correctly coded, banked and reported upon. Ability to develop relationships, be enthusiastic and help develop community fundraising, as well as take particular responsibility where required for fundraising projects eg Red Cross Appeal Week and to actively promote legacy message.

Overall Purpose of Post To assist the Community Fundraiser to carry out the fundraising plan to ensure growth of sustainable net income.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. To raise specified amounts as determined by the line manager in the local fundraising plan.

2. To manage specific fundraising projects outlined within plans and agreed with manager and to support legacy fundraising in area as agreed with line manager.

3. To maximise sustainable net income.

2. To recruit new fundraising participants and supporters to maximise financial contribution in relation to resource use and spend.

3. To initiate, build and foster relationships with external bodies such as Rotaries or Lions’ Clubs and supporters in order to develop a wide and varied donor base. D:\Docs\2018-05-04\02d7dbb005a5408e6d59cc5c1c307754.doc 1

6. Where applicable, to be responsible for handling and banking cash in line with BRCS procedures.

7 To ensure accurate records are held of income, thank and respond to supporters and donors in appropriate manner.

8 To work productively with staff and volunteers who are supporting fundraising activities.

9 To ensure effective and best use of fundraising materials and other material resources.

10 To enter data on the local database and ensure all records are kept up to date and cleansed regularly.

11 To complete the required administration to ensure that local fundraising activities meet legal requirements, for example in relation to Red Cross Appeal Week, lottery returns and other statutory controlled fundraising events.

12 To uphold the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and to work within the Society’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

13 To undertake any other reasonable tasks requested by the line manager
