-- Honors Program students complete the Murray State Honors Sequence INSTEAD of the University Studies sequence. The Honors Sequence REPLACES the University Studies curriculum.

-- The Honors Sequence for 2013-14 is on the back of this form; the sequence is found on PAGE 58 of the 2012-13 Bulletin and PAGES 42-43 of the 2011-13 Bulletin.

-- Academic Advisors should do all that they can to be sure that the Honors Sequence meshes with requirements for areas, majors, and minors.

-- All Honors Program students MUST -- take AT LEAST ONE HONORS SEQUENCE COURSE per semester, until the sequence is complete. (Exemptions must be granted by the Honors Program Director in advance.) -- maintain a 3.2 GPA. -- study abroad.

-- Four new Honors Program Electives are now offered. See the 2013-14 Honors Sequence (handout and below) for more information.

HON Program Equivalencies: The following chart shows the CROSS-LISTINGS for HON Seminars. If one of these courses is a pre-requisite for your program, the student should take the HON Seminar as part of his/her HON sequence. Other Prerequisites for YOUR Program: If your program has prerequisites that are not covered here, an Honors Program student is still required to complete those prerequisites. All Honors Program students must complete one University Studies mathematics course and one University Studies lab science course; BA students must have credit for one foreign language culminating no lower than the 202 level, and BS students no lower than the 102 level; BS students have 9 additional hours of University Studies required for their program.

Transfer Credit: Credit for no more than THREE Honors Seminars are allowed toward completion of the Honors Diploma.
