Session III: VAC and Children after Care 2:30-3:30
1 Objective: To better understand how VAC affects children after leaving care and how to better prepare children, families and communities to address this issue. DAY 2: June 22, 2017 Benyam or Fassil: Recap of Day 1 and objectives of Day 2 8:30-9:30
Session I: Panel presentation on what key rights bodies and national governments are doing to address VAC and Care, what the gaps are and what they want to do to address these gaps. 9:30-10:30 Chair: Fassil Mariam Panelists: TBD African Union, Regional Treaty Body, national government and UNICEF ESARO Session II: Sub-regional perspectives and small working groups: Identification of strengths, gaps and necessary next steps to strengthen policy and practice to prevent, respond and track VAC and care. 10:30-11:30 Each working group (EAC, SADC, ECOWAS) will have a lead and a rapporteur and the group will identify existing strengths of policy and practice in the region, existing gaps and make recommendations for next steps This is a working tea break. Session III: Group work presentations in plenary 11:30-12:30 (each group will have 10 minutes to present their recommendations and five minutes for questions.
