EAST ANGLIAN AIR AMBULANCE JOB DESCRIPTION/PERSON SPECIFICATION

JOB TITLE: Communications Assistant

REPORTS TO: Head of Communications

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week – 9am – 5pm

LOCATION: Cambridge

Main job purpose

To support the HoC in delivering communications and marketing support, and providing input and initiative to all EAAA activities.

Main duties and responsibilities  Run the Cambridge communications office (inc stationery, catering, phones, appointments etc)  Take messages and communicate them accurately and in a timely manner and to deal with basic day-to-day queries. To direct telephone, mail and email enquiries to relevant members of staff  Welcome visitors to the Cambridge Airport office dealing with all the security arrangements, passes and entry to crew area.  Ensure that all tasks and duties identified by the Head of Communications have an agreed delivery date  To act in accordance with all the charity’s policies and procedures.  Observe all Health & Safety rules and to take reasonable care to promote health and safety at work for all employees

Education and Qualifications

Essential Desirable Good grasp of written and spoken English Good level of numeracy

Experience and knowledge

Essential Desirable Strong writing skills, excellent grammar and spelling Good interpersonal skills Excellent telephone manner Fully comfortable and competent with IT Accurate note taking

Skills and abilities

Essential Desirable Articulate and confident communicator (both written and oral) Knowledge of publisher, photo shop

Fully competent in all Microsoft applications Strong editorial skills, with experience of editing content for Knowledge and experience of media digital publication and distribution monitoring services and KPIs

Excellent project management skills with ability to see projects through to tight deadlines, without supervision Ability to communicate effectively with staff, the public and external agencies; good interpersonal skills Ability to think creatively Knowledge and confidence in writing for the web, web content, and social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+,) and formulating reports based upon these Good organisational, problem solving, analytical skills, with a passion for detail
