. A monthly summary of the Delaware County Intermediate CONNECTION Unit’s Meeting of the Board of Directors The Delaware County Intermediate Unit Board of Directors met on Board of Directors August 6, 2014. The following are some highlights from the meeting:

Edward J. Cardow  Accepted the resignation of Mrs. Nancy Galbraith, board member from President the Marple Newtown School District, and thanked her for her service to the DCIU Board of Directors from 2002-2014. Maureen Carey Vice President  Approved a partnership between DCIU Head Start and Interboro School District to track the progress of Head Start children, provide registration Frank Agovino dates annually, assist with advertising services within the district, and Patricia Booker outline parameters of schools in the community from May 31, 2014 A. Lewis Boughner through May 30, 2015. Deborah DiBattista Nancy Galbraith  Approval to continue a partnership with the DCIU English Language Learner (ELL) Program for 2014-15 program year to provide shared Philip R. Hopkins support services and expertise in program implementation, teacher Tracy A. Karwoski training and classroom English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction. Lucy Lopez Nancy Mackrides  Approval to continue a partnership agreement between DCIU Head Start Wanda Mann and Delaware County Technical School Practical Nursing Program to Harry J. McElwee provide assistance with the full time Head Start Nursing Staff for the Robert Reardon needs of children between the ages of three and five with vision and hearing screenings as well as heights and weights screenings from Richard Sonntag August 2014 through June 2015 at no cost to DCIU.

 Approved a partnership agreement with Dellicker Strategies, LLC to enter Lawrence O’Shea, Ph.D. the Hybrid Learning Institute at a cost to DCIU not to exceed $20,000. Executive Director  Approval to continue the Memorandum of Agreement with Collingdale Thomas C. Brown Borough Police to have a School Liaison Officer for Collingdale Treasurer, Nonmember Community School for the 2014-15 school year at cost to DCIU not to exceed $30,000. Susan Haagen Secretary, Nonmember  Approved an increase in the Individual with Disabilities Education Michael V. Puppio, Jr. Funding (IDEA) as requested by the Pennsylvania Department of Solicitor Education from $15,611,982 to $16,011,982 to pay vendors of a DCIU member district as directed by PDE. Previous amount was Board approved Adriene M. Irving June 4, 2014. Editor  Approved a contract with David C. Babbitt and Associates, LLC, for land planning consultation services for the Aston facilities project at a cost of $150 per hour plus expenses.

 Approval to continue to contract with Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union to provide services necessary to produce the Delco Hi-Q academic 200 Yale Ave. program during 2014-15 in the amount of $29,000. Morton, PA 19070 610-938-9000  Welcomed Mr. Ron Contrady, the new principal of the Aston campus of www.dciu.org the Delaware County Technical School, effective August 6, 2014.

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on September 3, 2014.
